Q: 10. Suppose I recharge the NPF battery to wall power while using it to power my GH5. Where will my GH5 draw power, from the attached NPF battery or straight from wall power?

A: Passthrough power from the wall is not available sadly, and the battery will not power the GH5 if you have it connect to the main wall power, so I would recommend using either a D-Tap power source or using a dummy battery attached to a battery bank of sorts.

Wonderful battery as an addition to my other one. No issues with charging or with the camera.

Purchased a Sony A7Riii and an extra battery a few months back. I was quite impressed with how long the factory battery would last in comparison to my previous camera, a Sony A6400 with factory NP-FW50 battery. With the A6400 I would need extra batteries, many extra batteries! To save money, I tried a few different aftermarket batteries. They would work for a time but eventually would swell and stick in the camera body, the Sony factory batteries were superior. With the move to the A7R, I would get three times more life out of one battery.
I had ordered a third battery as a backup just before a week long trip into Maine. Only had to swap into the second battery towards the end of the week even after 3000 shots and video, many using AF-C! Yes, I do try to practice battery management while using my camera which helps. However the factory batteries are trouble free and worth the money from my perspective. Good fit and finish, I have yet to have one stick or swell.

I like using Sony OEM batteries for my Sony A7 IV. I have four of these batteries - more than enough for a full day shoot. However these batteries use a lot of their charge when shooting in 4K video mode. Even so, the battery provides sufficient power for shorter duration videos (including while using the Sony ECM-B10 microphone.)

This Sony battery works as it should, and I hope to get a long lifespan. It's not an expense, it's a good investment
