Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this compatible to Sony E Mount's Sigma 18-300mm lens?

A: Thank you for your interest in Sigma product. As of now, Sigma doesn't make a USB dock nor an 18-300mm lens in E_mount. This product is compatible with Sigma SGV lenses for Sony A-mount.

Q: 2. Can I use the dock with sigma 35mm f1.4 art len? Thanks.

A: This dock is only compatible with the Sigma Art, Contemporary, and Sports line lenses featuring a Pentax K lens mount.

Q: 3. I have the Sigma 150-600mm lens for Nikon. I've taken pictures of the moon before that were tack sharp. Now tonight, I put the lens on, focus locked in on camera, take the shot on a tripod, and self timer, and images are blurry, not in focus at all. Will this dock help?

A: Based on the time and date you posted this question, there was a lot of smoke in the atmosphere due to the forest fires in the west. Chances are that smoke contributed to the blur. I would recommend testing the lens again on a clear night (although the moon did look really cool last night). But also the Sigma Dock will allow you to calibrate the focus with your lens as well as update the lens firmware and change the focus settings.

Q: 4. I want to know the best internal SSD to use with Oyen digital lync. if you have advice?

A: yes, please review anyone of the following hard drives that would be a great pair for your oyen unit. Samsung drives https://bhpho.to/3E3Xa5h

Q: 5. Why is there no Sony E mount Dock?

A: Sigma has not manufactured a Sony E mount dock yet.

Q: 6. Does this dock work with Macs?

A: Yes it does. This is compatible with both Mac and PC computers.

Q: 7. Is any kind of calibration aid (i.e., test chart) needed with this, or does the dock and software do it all?

A: Robert, you don't need a test chart, but I would recommend a ruler or yard stick propped up at an angle to the vertical of about 30-45 degrees with the low point of the stick closest to you and it pointing away from you. Put a rod of some kind in the ground pointing straight up and next to some point in the middle of the yard stick. That will be the point you focus on. Position your camera the distance away you want to check the calibration (the Sigma software gives you 4 distances to calibrate). Take the picture focusing on the vertical rod. Open the image full size and look at the marks on the ruler. If the tick directly next to the rod you set up is in focus, it is fine for that distance. If it is sharper further on or further in, then use the software to adjust the focus a little and try again. Do a search for Sigma Brand Video for a good primer on how to use the software (it does require user input). If you do buy it hook everything up immediately and make sure it works. Mine does not recognize the lens (150-600 contemporary). I've gotten a replacement dock and it is still not working several weeks after getting the lens and dock.

Q: 8. Can this be used with the T-5 SSD drives?

A: Unfortunately no, the Oyen Digital Lync USB Type-C to SSD Camera Drive Dock is only compatible with 2.5" SSD drives.

Q: 9. I'm a little confused about the lens/mount requirements. I have a Nikon D610 camera and am going to purchase the Sigma contemporary 150-600mm lens for my Nikon camera. Which dock do I purchase...the one fpr sigma lenses or another for (Nikon) F-Mount lenses??

A: Chester,For your D610 (or any other Nikon) you will need the USB Dock for Nikon F mount. If you are using Windows 7 Pro make sure the dock and lens communicate properly as soon as you receive it. Mine does not recognize the lens. B&H sent a second USB dock with the same results. I contacted Sigma who recommended I send the lens and dock together in to them to test. I did and they said it tested out fine and the problem must be with my computer (they suspected the antivirus software). I tried it with the antivirus disabled with the same results. I updated all the drivers for the chipset, LAN and USB devices and still got the same results. My GPS, weather station and all other USB devices work fine. I'm keeping the dock so if I have access to another computer at one point I can try to get it working.

Q: 10. Could this help with my Sigma a mount 120-400mm? Noticed skmeissues with focussing when I shot a professional soccer match this weekend. I have it adapted to my A7RII (bought used and adapted cause of the affordability)

A: The Sigma USB Dock for Sony A-Mount Lenses will only work with Sigma Global Vision lenses. These are the Art, Sports or Contemporary lenses. Not with the Sigma 120mm-400mm lens released in 2008.
