Providing performance at a reasonable price for most beginners, the Celestron E-Lux 32mm Kellner Eyepiece produces low power in most telescopes. It is designed to be a perfect addition to your observation arsenal when you want to take in large portions of the sky for comet hunting, viewing nebulae, or exploring all the stars in a constellation.

Outfitted with a generous 56° apparent field of view and treated with anti-reflection multicoatings that produce bright and clear wide-angle views. This model of the E-Lux is offered here with a large 2" barrel that allows the maximum amount of light to pass through to the eye with a long 28mm eye relief for a more comfortable observational experience with greatly reduced eyestrain and fatigue. A textured collar provides a slip-resistant grip, especially in cold weather or while wearing gloves, and the fold down rubber eyecup makes it comfortable and easy to view through, with or without eyeglasses.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How is this scope for bird watching. Should I be looking at anything else in this price range?

A: This is a great value for a premium spotting scope but due to the weight of this 100mm (even with the magnesium body), you'll probably only be using it in locations where you can take it out of your car and bird near your car, or for short hikes. You'll need pipe insulation around your tripod too for cushioning to your shoulder when carrying it. As one who works in astronomy, I recommend inexpensive Astro-Tech ED planetary eyepieces (Paradigm Dual ED), or Televue (much more expensive) as superior to the zoom eyepiece supplied. Note that Celestron does have some quality control issues, but are great at replacing defective gear.

Q: 2. Would this also work for deep space objects? It's tailored for planets, moon, and solar, but how would it work for, say, the Orion nebula? Whirlpool galaxy? Other?

A: The Celestron NexImage 10 is not sensitive enough to capture deep space objects. This is why it is only recommended for solar system use.

Q: 3. Is is possible to mount a Nikon D600 or D700 on this with an adapter?

A: As I understand it, this scope can be used with any major DSLR camera. It comes with a T ring that screws right onto threads on the ocular end of the eyepiece (remove eye cup to reveal threads, but eyepiece itself stays in place). All you need in addition is a camera mount specific t adapter (available from B&H for less than $10 for my Canon EOS mount DSLRs). I assume the above Nikons are DSLRs, so just ask for the appropriate T adapter ring. The camera body can then be attached to the scope, just as you would attach any lens. Hope this helps.

Q: 4. How would this be for casual astronomy: Jupiter, Saturn, Moon, etc....?

A: Awesome for casual astronomy, you can see the rings og saturn and the four largest moons of jupiter. At full magnification the moon is large and crisp, extremely fascinating. Very little in the way of chromatic abberation even on the full moon. Smooth and easy to use focus, both focus wheels. However, the size and weight of the scope does require a very sturdy tripod. The scope is highly recomended :)

Q: 5. Will the Celestron NexImage 10 Solar System Imager work with Celestron 5se?

A: It will work with the Celestron 5SE

Q: 6. is it compatible with Mac.10.6.8 and 10.13.6???

A: Yes, the NexImage 10 Solar System Color Imager is now Mac OS X compatible.

Q: 7. What is the outer diameter of the eyepiece?

A: The eyepiece is approximately 6.5" in diameter.

Q: 8. Will this work on windows 11?

A: Celestron NexImage 10 Solar System Color Eyepiece Imager (1.25") BH #CENM10SSI • MFR #93708 will work with Windows 11

Q: 9. Is it possible to mount an Olympus OMD 4/3 camera with an adapter? & if so which one?

A: If the Olympus camera can mount a T-ring adapter, it could be done. In fact, there are so many adapters out there, you could surely find one. I have mounted a Nikon DSLR to my Spotting Scope. However: since this is eyepiece projection, the vignetting is horrible. I got one image of a bald eagle with my rig, but was very disappointed with it, and haven't tried again. It's a great spotting scope, but not an adequate photo accessory.

Q: 10. How much detail can you get with a decent 8" SCT (mine's a Celestron EdgeHD)? Could I hope to make out Jupiter's red spot, for instance? (My eyepiece projection attempts with my DSLR and an 8mm eyepiece give me the main bands, but no luck making out the red spot)

A: The Celestron NexImage 10 Solar System Color Eyepiece Imager (1.25") will give you no magnification at all, your telescope's Focal Length, is all you will get.
