A: Use a 77mm-It will keep threads covered. For any step up or down rings, use the end opening size to protect all the interior parts and easy removal. You can also use the same cap on the filter screwed into the rings

A: That depends on the angle of the lens and the attachment, when I use my 82mm thread polarizer on my 77mm thread lens, I get vignetting at16mm, zooming in close to 20mm will pass all vignetting

A: I didn't know; didn't buy it.
Q: 4. Could this be used on a Sirui 60mm portrait lens for smartphone?
A: No, that step-up ring will not fit. The Sirui 60mm Portrait Lens does not have threads to screw into.
Q: 5. Would the 49-77 be good for my old Pentax 50mm f2 with a 49mm filter thread? Trying to get all my lenses using 77mm filters and lens caps.
A: it will work for filter and caps if you like , the lens hood would not fit

A: No; 40.5 is too large to go on the X30. It is frustrating to try to attach anything to these little Fuji lenses. I ended up buying a lot of miscellaneous caps, hoods, step up rings, and filters. I finally gave up and purchased the Fuji hood that came with a clear filter (size not specified but perhaps a 40mm) and a pinch cap. It seemed like an unreasonable price, but it works well. All the other filters and step up rings and caps are part of my estate.
