The 3/8"-16 and two 1/4"-20 threaded screw holes allow you to attach accessories with a magic arm, such as a tablet/smartphone holder, an external video monitor, or an LED light. The clamp can also be used the other way around, attaching the magic arm with the 3/8"-16 screw hole to the tripod and clamping an object with the MC-40. The MC-40 Multifunction Clamp is made of black anodized aircraft aluminum, making it very strong yet lightweight.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Where do I locate the male insert that goes with the QD socket in the Leofoto SF-02?

A: Leofoto does not have the QD socket insert available as a standalone item for the Leofoto SF-02 Lens Foot with Clamp for Sony FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS Lens. They do however have the Leofoto SP-01+DC-22Q QD Strap & Clamp Kit which can connect directly to this plate, BH #LESP01DC22Q (https://bhpho.to/3R6pmKE).

Q: 2. Hi, Im using Nikon z9 + Nikon 800mm f/6.3. is the panning option will work well for videos? or it will to hard to pan gently?

A: The Really Right Stuff BH-40 Ball Head with Lever-Release Panning Clamp doesn't have panning fluid and counter balance so it is hard to pan gently during video. I would recommend a fluid head for panning during video such as this one. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1470943-REG

Q: 3. can i use it on a BH55?

A: The Really Right Stuff PC-LR-40 Compact Panning Clamp includes a flat-head 1/4"-20 and M6 screws for mounting directly to Really Right Stuff and Arca-Swiss ball heads, including the Really Right Stuff BH-55 Ball Head.

Q: 4. Will this clamp modify a FLM CB-32 head to have a Quick Disconnect system?

A: Hi,Yes it will, but you should observe that the safety pin is for FLM plates and not necessarily compatible with other Area-Swiss plates. I own a RSS L-plate for the Oly OM-D E-MII and the pin is annoying. Perhaps the pin could be knocked out. You could also consider a RSS QR instead. Google that combination. Either way you should apply a locking glue to keep it securely in place. FLM has a guide for that.

Q: 5. Do you hold the camera body to pan for a single row Panorama or the panning clamp?

A: The body and the panning portion of the head are both going to rotate, so I don't think it matters which you hold while panning. Just shoot, loosen the pan screw, rotate, tighten screw, shoot, and repeat.

Q: 6. Will the compact lever clamp work with Small Rig L Bracket? Would it possibly be too tight or too loose?

A: While this should accommodate arca-swiss plates from any brand, the RRS lever-release clamps are engineered for best fit with their own plates and L-brackets and are not recommended by RRS.

Q: 7. Will this just screw right on my FLM CB24?

A: No. the thread on your CG24 is 1/4"/20. The thread on the SRB40 is 3/8"/16 . But you can make it fit easily by using an adapter bushing. A good one would be B&H # WIBS100.

Q: 8. For the BH-40 with Full lever panning clamp, is it the new R-mount version from RRS?

A: No, the Really Right Stuff BH-40 Ball Head with Lever-Release Panning Clamp does not have the R mount. R-Mount Interface: R-Mount’s rosette will prevent twisting at the coupling point between the ARC-LR and RRS head over time, and will assist in eliminating “play” that results from regular use on our earlier tongue-and-groove designs. It is not out yet as of today on the B&H system. And is only in a clamp and not yet on the heads.

Q: 9. can i use this on the BH30?

A: Yes, the Really Right Stuff PC-LR-40 Compact Panning Clamp features a built-in, patent-pending R-Mount, allowing you to rigidly mount it onto any Really Right Stuff ball head stem including the Really Right Stuff BH-30 Ball Head. Alternatively one can mount the Really Right Stuff TH-DVTL-40 Round Dovetail Plate to the bottom of the Panning Clamp to quickly attach and detach to the existing clamp.

Q: 10. Does this work with the standard plate from Peak Design?

A: No, the Really Right Stuff B2-40-LR II Lever Release Clamp is not compatible with the Peak Design PL-S-3 Standard Plate.
