Q: 1. Can I use this device to conect a camcorder or cell phone who use to record or stream a Podcast? Thanks

A: Yes, connections below: Host Connection 1 x USB Type-C (I/O) 1 x USB Type-C (Bus-Power Only) Connectivity Analog I/O 4 x XLR 3-Pin Female Balanced Mic Input 4 x 1/8" / 3.5 mm TRS Female Unbalanced Headphone Output 1 x 1/8" / 3.5 mm TRRS Female Unbalanced Aux Input 1 x 2.5 mm TRRS Female Unbalanced Remote Input

Q: 2. How is this unit for connecting to a vid cam? less sync work on the back end!

A: The Zoom PodTrak P4 Portable Multitrack Podcast Recorder does not have any dedicated main outputs for sending signal to a camera or other source, however if a headphone jack output could be spared, it could in theory be used for this purpose with the proper cabling.

Q: 3. Which AC power cable pairs with the Zoom PodTrak P4 Recorder?

A: The Zoom PodTrak P4 Portable Multitrack Podcast Recorder can be powered via AC with the implementation of the Zoom AD-17 AC Adapter (BH #ZOAD17) and a USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable.

Q: 4. Is there any way to enable and configure noisegate in Zoom P4? If yes, can you do this through built controls, or do you need an app or computer program to configure it?

A: The Zoom P4 does not have a specific noise reduction option. For a recorder with built in noise reduction features, the Zoom P8 would be a better choice.

Q: 5. Will this function as a USB audio interface?

A: Yes, the Zoom PodTrak P4 Portable Multitrack Podcast Recorder can be used as a USB audio interface (2-in/2-out).

Q: 6. Can I use this with Spreaker? I currently use Spreaker to record. I’m looking for a better options.

A: This is a 4 track Podcasting recorder, designed to have up to 4 mics connected to it for recording to an sd card. You could connect a speaker to one of the headphone outputs on the bottom if you didn't want to use headphones. If you're recording audio from a speaker output, you may want to look at the Zoom H5 instead, BH# ZOH5.

Q: 7. Does the p4 record each track in a separate file?

A: The P4 records separate tracks (and a stereo mix) when recording to a SD card; if you are using it as an audio interface into a computer it only records in stereo on the computer.

Q: 8. What is the audio quality of of the audio being sent back to the phone call interviewee? Is it the same as the headphone quality? Does that differ from what is recorded to the SD card? Thanks!

A: The way you hear it on the headphones should be the same the the rcorder captures that conversation from the phone

Q: 9. When moving files to PC, will the file names show me the date and time of the recording? Or will there be a way to tell when it was recorded?

A: The folder which holds the multitrak files has the date/time as part of its name, but the files within the folder do not. The stereo file has the date/time as part of its name.

Q: 10. Can I use a broadcast headset to record and monitor? Like the Sennheiser HMD 300 which uses a 4 pin XLR

A: Yes, you can use a broadcast headset such as the Sennheiser HMD 300 with the Zoom PodTrak P4 Portable Multitrack Podcast Recorder to record and monitor audio. However, you will need to use a different cable with the headset since the 4-pin XLR cable and connector is not compatible with the mic input and headphone output on the PodTrak P4. To enable compatibility, you can use the Sennheiser Cable-II-X3K1-Gold Straight Cable with XLR & 1/4" Connectors for HMD Headsets - 6.6' (B&H # SECBLIIX3K1G) which will allow you to connect the headset mic to a 3-pin XLR input and connect the headphones to the dedicated 1/4" TRS output.
