Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it work with Digital Bolex? What does MP camera mean?

A: This is a lens designed for cameras that record in a format up to 720p. MP means it's a megapixel lens. This model is a 1 MP lens. If the format being recorded is any higher this lens is not recommended.

Q: 2. Can I use this lens (Schneider XENON 17mm f/0.95) with Bolex REX5? It seems to me that c-mount is too high. Thanks.

A: They both share the same mount and would work

Q: 3. Is this an APS-C lens or a full frame lens?

A: Format Compatibility Covers full-frame

Q: 4. Can this lens be adapted to work on MFT bodies like the Panasonic GH5?

A: This lens cannot be adapter to work on an MFT camera. However SLR Magic makes a 25mm lens you could use instead. https://bhpho.to/3nOxHmZ

Q: 5. how is the focus position vary along with wavelength?

A: We would love to assist you with this question, however we do need a bit more information. If you could email this question to provideo@bhphoto.com with some additional information like what camera you'll be using and the application it is for we'll do our best to assist you.

Q: 6. I have a video camera C mount, 1/1.8 CMOS, 1280 x 1024, USB3; with this lens, at the minimum distance (0.3 m.) which are the maximum and minimum areas that I can see onto a monitor? Is suitable this lens for my video camera? Thanks a lot.

A: At 4 mm you will get 1.20 ft. width. At 13 mm you will get 0.37 ft width. As for your image that you are trying to get, it depends on the camera and what the focusing distance will be. You might want to check with the manufacturer.

Q: 7. What is the lens diameter?

A: The Schneider 21017528 2/3" 4.8mm f/1.8 C-Mount Cinegon Compact Lens, Manual Focus, Manual Iris, Ring Lock dimensions are 1.6 x 1.4" / 41 x 37.3mm. So it is 1/4" / 37.3mm in diameter.

Q: 8. what is the image circle for this lens?

A: The Schneider Xenon 25mm f/0.95 C-Mount Lens for 1-Inch CCD (B&H# SC2595X) is designed to cast an image circle upon a 1" sensor, that is, one that is approximately 12.8 x 9.6mm. The image circle itself is 16mm in diameter with the edge exhibiting some vignetting.

Q: 9. Should my focus ring be more accurate? When my focus ring is set to 7' focus is actually at 5'. When I set to 4' focus is 2' 8 . I do tend to measure my manual focus lenses and this is my first I feel I can't trust. I do feel infinity focus seems a bit soft, is it possible I'm not able to get infinity focus if the actual focus distance is shorter then marked? Wondering if I should return... anyone else test the focus ring accuracy?

A: In my decades of being a motion picture camera assistant, this was a situation the we had to look our for. The problem is either the lens is out of collimation or the lens mount flange depth is off. If both are correct, Infinity is Infinity and 5' is 5'. I would suggest that it is the lens and that you should exchange it if you bought it from B&H less than 30 days ago.Contact B&H Customer service to do so. B&H Customer Service Contact: https://bhpho.to/2caRE5L. If the lens comes back and you still have an issue or you purchased longer than 30 days ago, take or send the lens and the camera to a camera service center.

Q: 10. What size lens hoods and filters does this lens take? Thanks.

A: The front thread of the Schneider XENON 17mm f/0.95 C-Mount Lens accepts 35.5m filters. Go to http://bhpho.to/1cxHEQT, select the type of filter you need, and select 35.5mm from the search filter on the left for a listing of what we have available in that size. There are step-down filter rings that you can use if you have larger diameter filters you wish to use. Also see attached the one 35.5mm lens hood we have available.

The quality of this lens has surprised me! I enjoy this field of view and wanted an inexpensive, yet quality lens to travel with. I have found this lens to be sharper than the 23mm f/2 from Fujifilm, even wide open. The only downside is the aperture makes some noise, but that’s not a big deal. Well constructed and optically beautiful lens!

I was incredibly happy with the quality of the images, very clear, and bright after putting it through its paces by taking it to an aquarium!

The picture quality is amazing, sharp and the build quality is perfect. The wide f1.4 aperture is absolutely the greatest thing combined with the 23mm which works perfectly in low light conditions, which was the problem with my x-camera.
Highly recommended to anyone looking for a high quality and high performance lens at an affordable price.

Awesome lens! This is now my 2nd Viltrox lens (I have a 50mm one) and their quality is great. I was looking for a wide auto focus lens and once I saw Viltrox drop their white edition I had to cop!

Solid, beautiful image, no focus breathing ,smooth focusing ring, declicked aperture ring, built like a truck......what can I say more?
Thank you B&H for making this possible

Is this the ultimate, sharpest, most technically perfect lens to exist? No, of course not. But I doubt you can find many lenses in this price range that are built as well and take photos as well. With Fuji's film recipes, you get some really nice images out the camera without needing much, if any, post-production work. I think this is a perfect lens for daily use or content creation. I also took a video of a drive up in the palisades and it looked great. It's not weather-sealed, so that's a consideration, and it's definitely bigger/heavier than the Fuji XF 23 f2, but between the two, I prefer the Viltrox - the extra stops are a very useful and the price is less, which is a bonus.

I was undecided between the fuji 23mm f1.4 and I made this decision which I don't regret, it covers very good expectations

Picture quality and colors are great. Cannot tell the difference between this lens and Fuji 23mm F2. One is faster and cheaper, the other weather resistant. Excellent feel with X-T4 and X-E4, and I actually like the clickless aperture ring.
