The immense 135° angle of view is complemented by an advanced optical design that uses low dispersion, aspherical, and high refractive index elements to control a variety of aberrations and distortion to achieve high sharpness, clarity, and color accuracy. The lens has a manual focus design and permits working with subjects as close as 4.7" away and its built-in petal-shaped hood helps to block stray light from causing unwanted lens flare. Additionally, the lens is also characterized by its especially compact size, which makes it ideal for walk-around and travel applications.

Ultra-wide-angle lens is designed for FX-format Nikon Z-mount mirrorless cameras but can also be used with DX models where it provides a 13.5mm equivalent focal length.

Two extra-low dispersion elements are used to reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to produce high clarity and color accuracy.

Two aspherical elements and one ultra-high refractive index glass element help to control distortion and spherical aberrations for improved sharpness and accurate rendering.

Impressively wide 135° angle of view pairs with a rectilinear design, which renders subjects with minimal distortion in order to suit landscape and architectural applications.

Manual focus operation permits working with subjects as close as 4.7" away and a focusing tab is featured for easier handling and control.

Built-in petal-shaped lens hood helps to prevent stray light from causing lens flare and also offers some physical protection to the lens's front element.

Five-blade diaphragm produces distinct 10-point sun stars and specular highlights when stopped-down and photographing point light sources.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I saw a review of a pre-production version of this lens. On that one the flange was milled for 6-bit coding. Is that the case with this one?

A: According to Venus Labs, they state that the Venus Optics Laowa 9mm f/5.6 FF RL Lens for Leica M is 6-bit coded for metadata usage on Leica camera. They also state that they coded the lens based on the Leica system. There is no customized Laowa coding. As a result, you should memorize the amended name of the lens designation.

Q: 2. Does it work with a generic 4x6 (100mm) square filter holder? If yes, how is the vignetting when using a square filter?

A: It does work with generic filter holders, but due to variances in design, the amount of vignetting will vary. For instance, if you need to use an adapter or step-up ring, it might be more apparent on the sides. Despite this, with a 113 degree angle, if it does vignette, it should not be very severe.

Q: 3. Can I use this with a Rebel T6i?

A: Unfortunately this is designed for Mirrorless cameras, so it is not compatible with your Rebel T6i

Q: 4. Will the Lee 100 Filter system work with this lens?

A: Yes. But the following is needed in order to do so. LEE Filters 52mm Wide-Angle Lens Adapter Ring for 100mm System Filter Holder BH #LEARWA52 • MFR #WAR052 https://bhpho.to/39y1yzi

Q: 5. Other than the Full Frame nature, are there any significant image quality or build quality differences between this and the older 2.8 version that comes in native Fuji mount?

A: This lens is currently the world's widest rectilinear lens. It being a Full Frame lens means it does not suffer the crop of the other lens, and consequently has a much wider field of view. It has a 135° angle of view. This is a significant optical achievement, and really separates it from the older lens.

Q: 6. Can this lens' aperture on MFT be controlled from the camera?

A: No, on lens only.

Q: 7. can it be use for canon 80d body?

A: No this is not EF mount

Q: 8. Does this lens have a weather seal?

A: This lens has a dust & water repellent coating, but it is not weather sealed.

Q: 9. given that the lens hood is built in, would a 55mm filter with a 52-55 step ring fit?

A: It wouldn't fit due to the lens hood unfortunately.

Q: 10. Will this lens also have soft corners like most Laowa lenses?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 9mm f/5.6 FF RL Lens for Sony E is one of the smallest super wide angle lens ever made. With an angle of view of 135 deg you have to expect slight darkening of the corners when shooting with a Full frame sensor. This lens is great, at a great price. I know there are faster lenses out there - but the price and quality of this one is OUTSTANDING!

simple, and VERY good, low cost zoom. Outstanding sharpness for a decent price. The main reason for the low price is that the lens has no Vibration Reduction and I don't miss it. Makes a good complement to my 24-85 MM and works well on the Nikon D600.

I am beyond thrilled with the purchase of this lens for my D3100. For my skill level and budget, it has satisfied my desire to invest in a telephoto lens. It's extremely lightweight, images come clear (I have room for improvement with how clear my photos are with this lens) and I could see myself using this lens while at the racetrack or out on a nature walk. I love this lens so far and am looking foward to taking more photos with it.

Great in focus shots as long as you use a tripod. Outstanding lens for the price. I have been using for landscape pics with great results.

Bought the lens for a safari in Kruger Park (South Africa). I have a DX40 camera with a 70-200 zoom AF/VR but wanted something for the occasional shots that required a little more power. I was very pleased with the lens although for most of my pictures I used the 70-200 because of the ease of AF.

Nikon 70-300MM lenses Coming from the film world and manual cameras I sometimes (often) forget that there is a manual feature on my automatic lenses. Sometimes the moment is right and the shot can never be repeated when I remember. This lenses can not be in automatic and I have had fun with it for a few weeks now. I forgot the creative opportunities with a manual focus camera. Auto focus has it's place, however it limits you when the camera thinks it knows best and focusing on something you want to be out of focus. The inexpensive price is another aspect of this lens. For that reason I would recommend it and if you insist on AF then buy an AF lens. I would recommend this lens to anyone, especially those stuck in the AF world. For me I want the creative freedom of manual focus. In the digital world exposure can be automatic without the detrimental effects experienced in film. I will leave my AF lenses in Manual from now on, rarely using the AF feature.
