Q: 1. Can the black cover come off?

A: No, the black backing is fully integrated into the umbrella and does not come off. Profoto does manufacture a translucent white version of this umbrella - but that's obviously expensive. If you're looking for a lightbox option to pair with the umbrella, I'd suggest the umbrella diffuser - it is a lot less expensive that another umbrella and definitely extends the range of lighting options the umbrella provides. - I hope this helps.

A: The shaft is standard length size that is Universal you must mean the Shaft Diameter which is 7mm for Elinchrom. Most other brands use an 8mm shaft.

Q: 4. Has anybody used the medium silver umbrella combined with the less powerful B2 head & What about after losing 1.5 stops with the diffuser added ? Most videos I've observed seem to be using the small size with the B2, apart from 1 Jared Platt video which had the medium silver being used. That photograph was however taken with an additional B2 head and a B1 head as well. Its hence hard to completely judge just the output of the medium umbrella alone.

A: I agree with William N. On the fantastic light. For portraits, I don't diffuse it either as it makes for nicer catch lights, imo.

A: Umbrella depth are not standardized spec. Unfortunately we do not have the ability to measure it.

Q: 7. How long is the 41" folded? I can only fit 27" in my bag.

A: Yes, the Profoto Shallow Translucent Umbrella (Medium, 41") will fit int the B10's umbrella port.

Q: 10. Hi, any idea where I can buy a top cap for the umbrella? It unscrews and falls off. It's the very end, metal piece at the tip of the umbrella. Certified service centers don't sell them. I would hate to have to buy a new umbrella for this particular piece that I'm sure they have extras for. =) Thanks!

A: Hi Albert, You could probably substitute a flat washer and an M6 metric nut. It wouldn't be as pretty, but it would do the job. You could find these at your local hardware store or the hardware department at Home Depot. Good Luck!
