The Flex 4K BACKPACK HDMI Encoder from BirdDog is an ultracompact NDI interface for HDMI video sources. Connect your onboard monitor, camera, or other video source, and have it available instantly on your NDI-enabled network. The BirdDog BACKPACK supports up to UHD 4K30 and 1080p60 resolution video.

The versatile BACKPACK can be powered using a Sony L-Series-type battery, PoE, or the included AC power supply. A 15W DC output port enables you to power select monitors and cameras from your BACKPACK power source. Tally information is displayed for both the talent and the operator and passed through to compatible equipment. Connect a separately available cable to the 2.5mm RS232 port for pass-through control of non-NDI PTZ cameras. A: The Z CAM E2N 4K NDI Camera has a larger body over the E2C. However, the major difference is the recording formats. The E2C offers 10-bit recording formats, and the E2N is 8-Bit NDI recording, as well as output for streaming.

A: The issue seems a little unclear. We are unable to reproduce the issue exactly as stated, but we suspect that there may be an EDID verification issue that may be causing the on and off blinking, although without a reproduction of the exact system, we cannot confirm for sure.

Q: 10. Can someone confirm that this device can already support NDI HX? Magewell website indicates that NDI HX decoding is now supported I guess via firmware update.

A: The Magewell Pro Convert NDI to HDMI does support full NDI, NDI|HX1, NDI|HX2, and NDI 4.x. decoding as long as the user has the latest firmware V1.1.595 installed.
