Q: 7. Would this be the correct ring for the Profoto B1 light?

A: The picture shows the octa bank not the ring. I have a Hensel and got the ring that lets me attach the RFi bank to it. Since you have a B1, you are just going from Profoto to Profoto and will not have any problem.There's always a speed-ring that will work.

A: Yes. I use it exclusively with Einsteins. It is more stable than the smaller, but heavier, 47 Paul C. Buff octa.

I have a softgrid for every Profoto softbox I own. They are indispensable for controlling light spill especially in tight spaces where light spill can easily bounce off walls and introduce unwanted light. Profoto's softgrids are very well made. They are also very, very expensive. 5

Having used lesser-quality eggcrate grids, I really appreciate the durability of Profoto's grids. I've actually had other grids deteriorate to the point of falling apart...doesn't happen with Profoto products. These grids are essential in establishing the restricted lighting zones which characterize my style and I won't buy anything except Profotol! 5

I typically used softbox grids sparingly, such as on strip lights for edge lighting. Any more, I find myself using them almost all the time on all lights. They do a great job of controlling spill and allow me to selectively apply light where/how I decide... and reduce the job of cleaning up spill in post. This one just arrived for my 3' octa and got used same day. Really happy with the quality, ease of use, and effectiveness. 5
