Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this combination be ok with Canon Mark 3 (Zacuto Gorilla Plate V2 and Zacuto Z-Finder 3.2 Mounting Frame for DSLRs or do you have a kit that has this without the viewfinder)?

A: Yes, the combination of this Z-Finder 3.2 Mounting Frame and B&H #ZAZGRPV2, which is the Gorilla Plate V2, will work with the Z-Finder 3.2 on the Canon 5D Mark III. We do not have a kit with just the plate and frame though.

Q: 2. Can I confirm what is the weight of the whole frame set?

A: The official weight of this is 5.0 lbs. / 2.3 kg

Q: 3. Also, can the Baby Pin Clamp hold the 6x6 frame up from one side only, or do you need both sides supported?

A: Fixed location one is fine. Shooting out doors I would suggest doubling up under heavy weather conditions.

Q: 4. How does the 8x8 hold up on a windy day? Is it sturdy?

A: This frame is quite sturdy under windy conditions.

Q: 5. Is there a way to angle this on a C-Stand? Or is this used only for handheld applications?

A: Nicholas, We recommend mounting this using the 2' Yoke (Westcott Part #7459) and that simply attaches to a grip head on top of a C-Stand.

Q: 6. Newbie question. What is the best stand or setup to stand this up on it's own? I don't always have an extra pair of hands and really need something to dull the harsh shadows and sunlight

A: Your best bet is to use this with C-stands.

Q: 7. What is the thickness of the aluminum in the 1 square tubing? Is it 6061 aluminum alloy?

A: Daniel, The available public technical specs for our products can be located in the Technical Specs section of each product on our website as well as B&H's site.

Q: 8. How does this compare to the Digital Juice 8x8 butterfly frame in terms of breaking down and items included in the kit?

A: No experience with the Digital Juice but the Scrim Jim system has been a favorite light control system for over 24 years because it is lightweight and easy to use. The Scrim Jim Cine remains lightweight especially compared to other brands in the industry. The # 1834 weighs less than 9lbs! A kit is only a few pounds more. The Scrim Jim Cine system was designed with users in the field to be modular so youre nearly limitless in the sizes and shapes that can be built. Connectors feature a positive-locking system that keeps frame builds in-tact throughout your shoot. Easily removable for quick tear down and setup. The 8 x 8 frame is constructed from smaller modular components and so you can construct multiple other sizes as well! Westcotts fabric attachment, through the use of Hook-and-Loop attachment, allows for fast and easy setup and tear-down. Westcott quality control maintains tight tolerances to assure quality color and diffusion.

Q: 9. Does this come with the scrimjim carry case/bag?

A: This Frame set does not come with a carry case. You would need either the Westcott #1689 rolled travel case or for a case capable of carrying this and other Cine gear check out the Westcott #7351 deluxe wheeled travel case.

Q: 10. Are all the poles the entire 8' or do they join together? If they join are you able to use less so if I buy the 8x8 could use as a 6x6 or 6x4 if needed or do I need to buy each specific size?

A: We bought the 4x4 so I cannot accurately answer this question.
