Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this enclosure will work for making BackUps from an iMac 27-inch, late 2012, running macOS HighSierra version 10.13.1?

A: Yes, this enclosure can be used together with drives to backup a Mac running OS X 10.13.1.

Q: 2. What is the maximum transfer speed on this device? I know that it's usb 3.0 port has a maximum transfer speed of 525MB/s, but that's the port, so I was wondering if the hardware itself had transfer speed limitations (for example some external hard drives with 3.0 have transfer speeds up to 400MB/s due to its hardware).

A: I use it with the Firewire 800 port and WD drives. Works great for me.

Q: 3. Does this enclosure spin the drives down when the Mac goes to sleep?

A: Yes, it does spin down and all the way off, powers up on waking. But SoftRaid recommends not letting the Mac go to sleep to avoid corrupting the RAID volume.

Q: 4. Can this enclosure support 2x 10TB WD gold ?

A: Two 8tb WD defintely work. I did see a few vendors, by google, selling a 20tb version but with seagate hard drives so i assume WD wouldnt be any different but cannot verify. Manual doesn't mention max per bay capacity either.

Q: 5. Does this monitor have an external AC/DC brick-style power cable?

A: Yes, it comes with a brick style power cable.

Q: 6. Hi. I have 5 pieces WD Green 6Tb from the old DAS. What will happen if I install them in the Oyen Digital Mobius 5-Bay? It just won't start or what? These disks are not enterprise class.

A: None of the drives in my box are enterprise class and the largest individual drive is 2Tb. Running it as JBOD. Drives that were iffy in the G5 are still iffy in the Mobius. The biggest challenge in my setup is keeping the eSATA ExpressCard/34 in the slot. Not sure if thatll help you out but just give it a try.

Q: 7. What is the maximum capacity disk size per drive?

A: Current qualified drives are 12TB disks (5x 12TB).

Q: 8. Can 5 (WD Red) 6TB be used fully successfully, or is it limited to 4th drives?

A: From the manufacturer website, there is no mention of a limit on the site, nor in the manual. They sell a 40TB version which would use 8TB drives, and a 30TB version which would use 6TB drives. So, it would make sense that WD Red 6TB drives would be find. I have submitted the question to the manufacturer.

Q: 9. If this is setup as JBOD, would my computer see it as two separate drives? I have two 4tb Seagate hard drives and would like to use them as individual drives (no raid).

A: Yes, your computer will see the two drives separately. This will work if you are using USB to connect the enclosure to your computer, but if you're using eSATA you'll need to make sure that your computer's eSATA port (and BIOS) is port-multiplier capable.

Q: 10. Is this a 4k monitor?

A: No, the EIZO FlexScan EV3895FX-BK 37.5" 24:10 Ultrawide Curved IPS Monitor only has a resolution of 3840 x 1600 Resolution. 4K is 3840x2160.
