Add professional-level stability and smoothness to your videos with this Matrix Sled Ultra from SmartSystem. The Matrix Sled Ultra is designed to stabilize midsize camera rigs supported by the DJI Ronin 2 gimbal stabilizer. It features a telescoping carbon fiber center post, a fluid gimbal stabilizer sled, a micrometric adjustable head, a Ronin 2 plate adapter, a Ronin 2 battery holder, a Ronin 2 yaw lock, a SmartCAM Horizon with counterweights, a monitor LCD holder, a dual V-mount battery plate, an additional V-mount plate on the bottom for additional power and counterweight, 10 counterweights, and two hard cases.

The micrometric top mount can adjust for balance and can quickly and cleanly mount and unmount the camera rig, and it allows you to mount the DJI Ronin 2 with the included mounting bracket. You can also mount your Ronin 2 battery and lock the yaw on the gimbal using the included brackets. The arm on the center post can mount onto an optional stabilizer arm such as the ARM X1 or X-LITE, which transfers the weight from your arm to your hips for comfort during long shooting days. The carbon fiber center post is height adjustable for working in a variety of production environments. The sled also features a docking bracket to dock the sled when it's not in use.

There is a dual V-mount battery plate on the bottom sled that runs power up through the center column to the head, which features three outputs with different pinouts and voltages for output to a variety of cameras and accessories. Connectors include 14.8 VDC 2- and 4-pin LEMO type outputs, as well as tally and BNC video input/output options to pass from the camera to your monitor. The SmartCAM Horizon monitor bracket is also included to stabilize your monitor while it's mounted, and it includes four 3.5 oz counterweights and a hard-shell case for storage.

An additional third V-mount plate is included on the bottom of the sled for added power as well as adding up to 10 included SmartSystem counterweights weighing approximately 8 oz each, so you can balance a heavier rig. The sled can be broken down and stored in the included hard-shell carry case.

Q: 1. Does this item work well with PXW-FS7 and Nikon F and G lenses?

A: I bought it to use on a Sony FS100 with my Nikon lenses. I've not put it through a great workout yet but I have used it several times with no problems. It's very well built, it feels very snug and secure even with heavier lenses, though it still attaches (or removes) to the camera and lenses smoothly. As for F&G lenses, I've only used it with the F mounts, but I just stuck a G on there and looked, it operates the aperture on it as well. The aperture ring on the Metabones has no click stops, so it rolls smoothly with just a tiny bit of resistance (good). I've also bought one for using on a GH-4 which is a micro 4/3 mount. I'd recommend them.

Q: 2. How does signal get to the monitor? Looks like you have to run a cable from camera to the monitor.

A: The Glidecam X45 sled has three HD-SDI video cables running inside the post from the top BNC connectors to base BNC connectors which then connects to the included display.

A: Correct, you can mount any monitor that has a 1/4"-20 thread mount to the Glidecam X-45 Stabilizer Sled with V-Mount Base's monitor mounting arm, and depending on the power options available for the monitor, you may be able to power the monitor with a battery or via a cable.

Q: 4. does this converter work with zoom lenses (i.e. nikon VRII 70-200 f2.8) or only prime lenses?

A: It works fine with zooms as well as primes. There are a couple of lenses that physically do not fit, but the 70-200 should be fine (and making it effectively an f2 lens). Be aware though that it will be a manual focus lens at that point. No AF.

A: No it is not. It is only compatible with APS-C NEX model cameras.

A: This is a 50 Wh battery, the battery that the X-T3 uses normally is only 8.7 Wh. It have over 5.5 x the capacity of the normal battery. Battery run times can vary, but you should expect this to last 5.5x as long as the normal battery would last.

A: yes as long as you have a nikon F mount lens
