Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this light soft or do I need to add some type of modifier?

A: This light is neither soft or harsh, you will have to test it to see if its to your liking. We do sell diffusion material for it, click the link below to view; https://bhpho.to/2OpYQ0k

Q: 2. I want to shoot portraits with this. Is it large enough to use the Sigma Art 35mm 1.4 lens? Or the Sigma 50 1.4 Art lens?

A: This flash is not compatible with Sigma lenses.

Q: 3. Can I use this with the Tamron 90mm macro lens.

A: You can use the Tamron SP 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro 1:1 VC USD Lens for Canon EF with the Canon MR-14EX II Macro Ring Lite with your Canon DSLR camera. Remember that the Tamron uses 62mm filter thread, so to adapt it to a lens with a 62mm filter thread size, you would need to purchase the 67mm adapter ring for the flash and then use a 62-67mm step-up ring to connect to that. See the two links shown below for the required adapter rings to connect it to your 62mm lens: http://bhpho.to/1frDLaa and http://bhpho.to/1lVIgRi

Q: 4. What's the difference between the version I and version II models of the MR-14EX flash?

A: The Canon MR-14EX II has a redesigned user-interface to match the rest of the Canon speedlite line-up, half-stop adjustments instead of full-stop adjustments, faster recycling times, 12 custom functions (up from 7).

Q: 5. Is this compatible with a Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro Lens?

A: The MR-14EX is not compatible with the Sigma 105mm f/2.8 lens.

Q: 6. Will this flash can give same results as Canon 600ex rt flash?

A: It can't because the mr14 is not as powerful it is for macro photos for small items like a diamonds on a ring.

Q: 7. Can this unit be used on a Nikon D7100 with Nikor macro lenses?

A: I m terrible sorry for that answer Kevin , It wount fit at all in your nikkor lens , If you have nikon you may go for another brand like Sigma or Metz for a front light macro flash . Nikon used to have a similar flash but they cuit the fabrication of it. My apologys and make me any question of it again . I have bouth of the macro lens and macro twin flash nikon and canon to work with.

Q: 8. 1) What is the range of flash duration for this product? I have an MR-14EX, and it doesn't always freeze motion. Any suggestions?2) This flash seems to fire milliseconds before the shutter opens, which can give some live subjects enough time to react--some can fly right out of frame before the shutter opens. Is there any way I can get around that?

A: The MR-14EX may not freeze motion all the time because it is intended for close up subjects, where there is not a lot of motion to begin with. To avoid the pre-flash, you could use manual mode. Keep in mind, however, that manual mode will not allow for TTL use of the flash. Another solution to this issue would be to use a ring light, such as the Digi-Slave L Ring 3200D, which will provide a continuous light source and potentially be able to deter the subjects from moving when the flash fires off: http://bhpho.to/1gdjkPn

Q: 9. MR-14 manual shows wireless compatability with 550EX. Does it also have wireless compatibility with 600EX-RT / 7D MarkII also?

A: Yes it does work well !

Q: 10. Can I use Yangnuo macro ring flash EX 14 RT -canon and Yangnuo remote flash triggers on Nikon 3300d, 5200d and 5300d? If yes, please let me know how to do it?

A: The Yongnuo YN-14EX-C Macro Ring Lite for Canon is technically for Canon. On a Nikon camera chances are it will fire but only in manual.Off camera you will need for the Nikon camera a manual wireless transmitter and a receiver for the YN-14EX-C. And again it will only work in manual.
