A: Yes, as far as I know cameras come with a standard size threaded hole in the bottom that will match the screw on the quick release plate. Quick release plates from different tripods likely won't match. I have a couple of this type tripod. They are light-weight, inexpensive, and good for day excursions. Not super stable (especially with a heavy camera on top), but better than handheld in low light, etc. For more serious stuff I have a Manfrotto tripod. A: Unfortunately, no, the spikes in the Sunpak 6601UT Tripod are not replaceable. The rubber tips on the bottom of the tripod simply twist to give you the option of having rubber on the bottom when you are shooting indoors on flat surfaces (wood, concrete, tile, etc.), whereas the rubber tips can be screwed up to expose the built-in spikes that would be used for outdoor surfaces like grass or ice.
