Users can make backup copies from TeraStation to an rsync-compatible device from another manufacturer. This function also allows backups to be made from another manufacturer's rsync-compatible NAS to the TeraStation NAS.

TeraStation functions as a client of an Active Directory domain, so that domain users and groups can be used. This means that they can be used in domain environments of companies with up to 10,000 users and groups.

Hot-swap function increases data security. With hot swappable drives, the TeraStation automatically switches off the defective hard disk even if one hard disk fails, so that it can be replaced safely without interrupting work or losing data.

Buffalo's TeraStation features B-Sync, which allows users to easily synchronize files between their TeraStation and 3rd party cloud services to make backups. The Buffalo NAS supports Amazon S3 Cloud Services, Dropbox, OneDrive, and Azure.

The web interface has a dashboard that offers the user effective views of system status, the ability to resize windows on a computer or phone, and a comfortable button layout.

Take advantage of 1GB of DDR3 memory for smooth multitasking.

Works simultaneously as NAS and iSCSI target.

This NAS server comes equipped with two NAS hard drives, ensuring optimum performance and reliability in RAID and continuous operation.

Using replication, a folder in two separate TeraStation NAS arrays is synchronized almost in real time. This only happens in one direction from the source to the destination and is not bi-directional. This function can be set up with a LAN or WAN. WAN setup includes remote connection via port forwarding and VPN setup.

Bought this to replace a failed 2 TB drive (that was likely over 5 years old... I don't remember). Plugged it in, Windows recognized it, and I was able to restore from online backup without a problem.
I like it when my tech just works.

I backup 1 phone and 3 PCs to my Western Digital MyCloud 8TB system. There is a USB on the back to add up another drive or a USB Hub for up to 3 more drives. Well, I was out of space so I added this new 8TB and it just looks like another folder on MyCloud. I got a USB hub and added this plus another 2TB that I had laying around for a total of 18 TB of backup over Ethernet. I'm using Acronis True Image. There is a free version especially for WD drives (free) but it won't write to Seagate or other brands unless you buy the full version.

8TB is a perfect size for keeping my PC backup done without worry. I have this locally connected to my PC's USB 3.0 port. I use the Acronis for WD software which is free for a WD drive.

I've been using WD for years since my other branding drive failed miserably. Need more storage and so I bought more of these. Over 3 years it is working just fine. And you can shruck it for nas, what a great product.
