USB 3.1 Gen 1 features a maximum throughput of 5 Gb/s and is synonymous with USB 3.2 Gen 1 and USB 3.0.

Users can make backup copies from TeraStation to an rsync-compatible device from another manufacturer. This function also allows backups to be made from another manufacturer's rsync-compatible NAS to the TeraStation NAS.

TeraStation functions as a client of an Active Directory domain, so that domain users and groups can be used. This means that they can be used in domain environments of companies with up to 10,000 users and groups.

Hot-swap function increases data security. With hot swappable drives, the TeraStation automatically switches off the defective hard disk even if one hard disk fails, so that it can be replaced safely without interrupting work or losing data.

Buffalo's TeraStation features B-Sync, which allows users to easily synchronize files between their TeraStation and 3rd party cloud services to make backups. The Buffalo NAS supports Amazon S3 Cloud Services, Dropbox, OneDrive, and Azure.

The web interface has a dashboard that offers the user effective views of system status, the ability to resize windows on a computer or phone, and a comfortable button layout.

Take advantage of 1GB of DDR3 memory for smooth multitasking.

Works simultaneously as NAS and iSCSI target.

This NAS server comes equipped with four NAS hard drives, ensuring optimum performance and reliability in RAID and continuous operation.

Using replication, a folder in two separate TeraStation NAS arrays is synchronized almost in real time. This only happens in one direction from the source to the destination and is not bi-directional. This function can be set up with a LAN or WAN. WAN setup includes remote connection via port forwarding and VPN setup.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. If I run out of storage space on the drives included in the unit, can I exchange the drives for 2 new ones?

A: You could replace the drives in the unit. However its often more cost effective to just buy another unit when they fill.

Q: 2. Can the encryption be turned off? I've heard that WD has hardware encryption that makes it impossible to read a drive outside of its original enclosure. Is this true on the My Cloud Pro as well?

A: Yes, it seems based on the raid configuration. The drives it will not work on outside of the server.

Q: 3. Do you sell the ‘diskless’, 0TB version of this unit?

A: We have the bare unit https://bhpho.to/2YZO74F.

Q: 4. Does the BH #WEWDBBCL0160 come with RED NAS drives?

A: As the manufacturers do not provide this information when updating an existing model number, I am unable to verify this for you. It is possible our inventory is mixed with different revisions of the same product. Manufacturers do not update the product model numbers when new revisions are released. As a result, we are unable to discern revisions within individual shipment palettes from the manufacturers. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Q: 5. Are the two bays mirrored or can we keep separate data on each one?

A: Yes it would be mirrored. 20TB (2x 10TB drives. 9.9TB usable capacity)* *Usable capacity per drive in default RAID 1. User may modify settings to utilize full capacity

Q: 6. In raid set up are the drives hot swappable?

A: B&H # WEBMUT0200JW doesn't support hot-swap. The enclosure will be pre-configured in RAID 1 for redundancy, but you must turn off the device before removing a hard drive.

Q: 7. Does it have a fan?

A: The manufacture doesn't go into details of the fan but this NAS server does have a fan. In the manual, on page 86, it mentions the fan for diagnostic test. https://bit.ly/2wdMAXX

Q: 8. can use seagate drives with this nas?

A: It comes with drives. You can swap them out.

Q: 9. Can this be configured to be used as an FTP server?

A: Yes you can generally speaking. In certain cases it may require port forwarding. And also a few providers have been known to block FTP access which doesnt have anything to do with this device particularly.

Q: 10. Can you create an URL for AND host your own website on this? How about create a link to a saved file or video and share the link/file? -Thanks!

A: Yes, the My Cloud Pro supports 3rd party apps such as Wordpress for creating and hosing websites. My Cloud can be installed over the web for access when connected to a network.
