Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this recorder with the accessory bluetooth accessory BTA-1 sync to other equipment such as cameras, using the Atomos ATOMXSYBL1-US AtomX Ultrasync Blue?

A: The Bluetooth connection made on the Zoom F6 6-Input / 14-Track Multitrack Field Recorder via the BTA-1 Bluetooth Adapter is for use with mobile devices using the dedicated Zoom F6 Control application and will not work to connect the F6 to third party devices.

Q: 2. When recording In the field, is it possible to record to SD and a usb drive or thumb drive simultaneously? Are there any options for recording to separate media redundantly?

A: This wouldn't be convenient, but you could connect your computer to the F6 and record simultaneously on that.

Q: 3. Can i use this to record only audio such as interview?

A: Yes this is a great device for recording just audio. It has Line Level, Mic Level and Phantom Power. Note that you cannot record as an MP3 file, everything will be an uncompressed wave file, so I would recommend at a least a 32 GB SD card. It has some amazing features such as the ability to record a backup track at a lower DB setting in case the main recording is to hot. This is also a fantastic device to put in line before a camera or encoder for live streaming. On the right side you have a mini headphone out and a mini camera out. Each has their own dial to control the output level. So you can plug your mic's directly into this tascam. Then plug the tascam into the camera or another device and know that you are always getting a backup audio recording, and you can also control the levels with the tascam for both the recording and output to camera separate.

Q: 4. Will the F-6 have an associated bluetooth app for monitoring levels, etc?

A: More info will be posted as soon as Zoom will make it available.

Q: 5. Li batteries?

A: Yes, the TASCAM DR-60DmkII Multitrack Field Recorder can be used with lithium batteries such as the Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA Batteries - 1.5V, 3500mAh, 4-Pack (B&H # ENAALU4).

Q: 6. In my interviews I have up to 4 people talking on their own microphone... how can I connect 4 Lav mics 3.5mm to this 4-channel recorder... channels do not correspond to 4 inputs? I want to be able to have 4 separate tracks so if someone speaks loudly I can turn that down in post in Adobe Premiere. Thanks!

A: The Tascam DR-60D MKII features two XLR/ TRS 1/4-inch inputs and one stereo 1/8-inch input, which is considered channel 3/4. This unit works best with three microphones. I would recommend the Tascam DR-70D, B&H # TADR70D, which has four XLR/TRS 1/4- inch inputs. Each of your lavalier mics would have to be battery- powered, and use an XLR adapter, such as the Rode VXLR - Mono Mini-Jack to XLR Converter, B&H # ROVXLR.

Q: 7. Does the F8n have dual-DACs with the 32-bit floating point data as well? Or is this something new with this device?

A: This is something new on the F6 that is not found on the F8n. More info will be posted as Zoom will make it available.

Q: 8. Does Zoom F6 needs an additional power source when used as an audio interface connected to a computer via USB C? in other words can it be powered solely by USB while connected to a PC?

A: Yes, even my old laptop powers it fine. Add some AA batteries just in case.

Q: 9. Can I use a standard USB charger and USB cable for external power or do I have to buy the over priced Tascam AC power adapter?

A: You can use a third party power supply, but it must be 5 volt and 2A specifically. The Tascam model is priced similarly to wall charger with these specifications.

Q: 10. Will this record separate audio tracks to be adjusted later during editing?? Or will the audio be mixed live and non-adjustable after recording??So basically can I adjust a single channel after I have recorded??

A: I haven't tried that. But I think it might b possible in Adobe Premier Plus. That's what I use.
