Building on the success of the original Ultravid HD, Leica's 10x42 Ultravid HD-Plus Binoculars add improved technologies and materials to create an optical device with bright and clear images across the entire field of view. The HD-Plus binoculars deliver enhanced contrast and true color fidelity, with virtually zero distortion, even in low-light conditions. Helping compensate for the visually distracting hand shake common with using 10x and greater optics, is a wide 63° apparent viewing angle. This allows the use of high-magnification binoculars without the need for stabilization equipment like harnesses or tripods.

Leica upgraded the glass to specially formulated SCHOTT HT glass, which increases light transmission especially in the blue-violet light band, improves color fidelity, and enhances low-light performance. Scratch- and abrasion-resistant High Durable Coating (HDC) and hydrophobic AquaDura coating on the outer lenses protect surfaces and cause water and oil to bead off for easier cleaning and clearer vision. The roof prisms feature P40 phase correction and proprietary High Lux System (HLS) coatings. These coatings virtually eliminate chromatic aberration for enhanced color rendition and increased contrast.

Complementing the optical performance are uncompromising construction details. To reduce user fatigue during long glassing sessions, the chassis is made of a lightweight yet durable magnesium alloy, with a titanium center hinge axle. The optical tubes are nitrogen filled for fogproof performance and sealed to make the binoculars submersible to 16.4' or 0.5 bar of pressure. Ergonomic thumb indents on the bottom of the binoculars, coupled with protective rubber armoring, provide a comfortable slip-resistant grip. A: The extra low dispersion glass has better optical quality especially in low light.

A: I am not quite sure what you mean. However I do know most people choose the 42mm Size because it is brighter, and better in low light. The 32mm are lighter weight, however not as bright.

A: No they are made in Portugal. I have a pair of Trinovid 8 X 32 I bought about 20 yrs ago that were made in Germany; these (10X40) are just as good. Both terrific. I like the larger image. The slightly heavier weight also help me steady my tremor. Good glasses!

A: This Leica Binoculars would come with a Limited Lifetime Warranty, Please make sure to register them, and if you need to transfer them over you would need to contact Lecia to arrange that.

A: My Leica 10x42 Ultravid HD's are made in Germany. Says so on the unit. Some Leica optics are made in Portugal. Not all.

Q: 9. DoeS LEICA offer BINOCULAR WINGED EYECUPS FOR THIS LINE?

A: Leica does not offer winged eyecups for the Ultravid binoculars.

Q: 10. How far out do the bullet drop system work? On the new model 10x42 the inclinometer system only works out to 600 yards.

A: The Ultravid model does not have a built-in rangefinder. Only the Geovid model has that. A Geovid HD-R can do calculations for a range of 10-600 yards and provide an adjusted horizontal distance measurement (what we call EHr). Thats usually a good range for bow hunters. The Geovid HD-B can do calculations for a range of 100-875 yards (or out to 1000 yds. by using the included micro SD card to load a custom calculation through our website), and can provide the above mentioned EHr value, or a Hold value, or the number of click adjustments to make on a riflescope. This model is better for the rifle hunter.
