Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work tracking a solar eclipse?

A: This cannot be programmed to follow a solar eclipse. While it has a Auto function, it cannot be sync accurately to solar movement.

Q: 2. I have my video cam on a 20 foot pole with handle bars to pan with. All I want to do is a tilt as in getting the perfect angle is next to impossible at 6 feet and them moving the cam up to 20 feet. Also when zooming the cam it needs a tilt to remain on the action. Looking at the specs it loos like it's set for certain degrees on tilt. Is this true or can you make small tilts? TIA, G

A: You can make tiny changes in the tilt. From level it will tilt up or down about 30 degrees.

Q: 3. Is the MP101 shower proof? Does anyone use it outdoors?

A: Only fans? Orrrr…. Sorry just confused why one needs a pan tilt mount in a shower unless it’s the adult film industry or creeper activities at a motel (one I’d prolly pass on) or bathroom spy work… ya weird question js

Q: 4. I realize this is a subjective question, but how loud is this when panning/tilting? I'm thinking of using it at the back of a church sanctuary, directly behind a pew. It wouldn't have to be whisper quiet, but can't be distracting or startling if we moved the camera during a quiet moment.

A: Mike, I'm very familiar with the church environment and what it takes to be felt and not seen; or in this situation heard. This unit is extremely quiet and will not be a distraction, even during the preaching of a sermon.

Q: 5. i want to use this with water drop photography, can i make very small adjustments in the angle up and down.? somtimes i will only need to use it for fraction of an inch. AL

A: Yes, depending on the lens. I use it with a portrait lens and it is pretty fine movement. If you're trying to use a macro, it may not be as accurate as you may want. Telephoto seems to be okay. Also, it uses batteries or external power (that may be extra). It moves slower and more accurately on the batteries. Has a manual setting with a wired remote about 4 ft long. With the manual setting you have not quite 360 degrees horizontal movement. Manual also has up and down movement of about 30 degrees total. Auto movement is only side to side, set to 45, 90 and 340 degrees.

Q: 6. Do you need the remote to control the tilt?

A: Yes, you must use the remote in the Bescor MP-101 Motorized Pan & Tilt Head with Power Supply and 100' Extension Kit to control the tilt of the motorized head.

Q: 7. would i be able to use this on my crane to enable a pan option? i only have tilt and i really need to be able to pan

A: Yes it will, but pan slowly, may be jerky if too fast. But remember there is a power supply attached to the device requiring an extension cord to the end of the crane. Also, the remote controls to run the pan/tilt are very short and will require purchasing extensions for the remote, again, to the end of the crane.

Q: 8. Is there a way to set up the pan option to rotate the camera precisely 5 degrees? I would like to take a series of images at every 5 degrees.

A: No it can not. You may want to consider something like the Syrp Genie Mini II Panning Motion Control System (BH #SY330001 • MFR #SY0033-0001) If you need it for both panning and tilting consider the Syrp Genie Mini II Pan and Tilt Kit (BH #SY330001PTK (B&H Kit))

Q: 9. does it come with a warranty?

A: Yes it does, this product includes a 90-Day Limited Warranty from Bescor. You will be able to add either a Square Trade 2 Year or 3 Year Extended Service Plan when checking out on our website to extend the warranty.

Q: 10. Can you program presets so you can have the camera re-point to a couple previously defined directions?

A: No. This can only be manually operated.
