Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the MP101 shower proof? Does anyone use it outdoors?

A: Only fans? Orrrr…. Sorry just confused why one needs a pan tilt mount in a shower unless it’s the adult film industry or creeper activities at a motel (one I’d prolly pass on) or bathroom spy work… ya weird question js

Q: 2. Can you buy more extension cables to increase the range to 200 ft?

A: Yes

Q: 3. does this unit operate with a battery supply or must it be plugged in?

A: works slightly better plugged in but when power is not available, works on batteries

Q: 4. does it come with a warranty?

A: Yes it does, this product includes a 90-Day Limited Warranty from Bescor. You will be able to add either a Square Trade 2 Year or 3 Year Extended Service Plan when checking out on our website to extend the warranty.

Q: 5. Can this unit be controlled with the PTZ Optics Serial PTZ Joystick (RS-232, RS-485, RS-422, VISCA or PELCO protocols)?

A: No, the Bescor MP-1AC is a independent Motorized Pan & Tilt Head.

Q: 6. Can you control this from a PC? I use a remote PC running Obs to live stream and would love to move the cameras remotely from the terminal.

A: We're afraid not. We are not aware an option like this that would be able to do that either.

Q: 7. How would you extend the cable to around 10-12 feet so the battery pack could be far away from the bescor head? I want to put bescor head on a pole and trying to minimize weight up high

A: The Bescor MP6VA L-Series 6V Battery Adapter Plate cannot be extended.

Q: 8. does it come with the remote?

A: Yes, remote is included

Q: 9. Is there a way to set up the pan option to rotate the camera precisely 5 degrees? I would like to take a series of images at every 5 degrees.

A: No it can not. You may want to consider something like the Syrp Genie Mini II Panning Motion Control System (BH #SY330001 • MFR #SY0033-0001) If you need it for both panning and tilting consider the Syrp Genie Mini II Pan and Tilt Kit (BH #SY330001PTK (B&H Kit))

Q: 10. Can you program presets so you can have the camera re-point to a couple previously defined directions?

A: No. This can only be manually operated.

Great Manfrotto engineering. Holds a full body and long lens without creeping. Tried using the ball heads and joystick options... All were good, but the 3-way pan gave me the most versatility and accuracy for Macro shots. Very happy with it.

I really love this head. The controls are smooth and precise and the counter weighting make controlling my camera/lens combos a breeze. The only word of advice I would give is make sure your sticks are as stable as this head. It's heavy and with really accentuate any weakness in your tripod legs. It locks down rock solid so if your sticks aren't solid you'll know it.

The Manfrotto head is preatty much the best you can buy for your money. I recently graduated from college, and we had Manfrotto heads with Calument legs, and those tripods literally got beaten up student after student and they never failed, and now, it hasn't failed me. Great product!

I use this aluminum 808RC4 to be the base for my Toyo-Field 45AII - a 4x5 camera which weighs in at around six pounds, but when a newer style (bulkier) Symmar or similar lens is added, plus lens shade/compendium, filter, BTZS dark cloth and film holder, the dead weight is closer to ten pounds or more. I was using a very good 'famous name' ball head (which is great for my MF cameras), but I quickly tired of the lack of control when aligning the camera - the 'floppyness' of a large format camera sitting on a ball, always about to suddenly dip forward alarmingly. I was always wishing for three hands ! The Manfrotto 808RC4 is such a pleasure to use, especially with the super safe RC4 quick release plate. The 3-way head (with dual axis built in levels) can quickly and accurately bring your camera into perfect alignment. The three large rubberized adjustment handles are perfectly placed and excellent to use, and when the camera position is locked, it is locked. Not a millimeter of movement as you tighten the handles, or when you remove your hold of the body. All of this, plus two balance springs in the vertical tilt (forward/backward) and horizontal tilt (left/right) movements (which you can turn on or off) to make the alignment of the camera even easier. I like products that are well designed and well engineered. I especially like products which I can 'forget' about when I use them. I want to concentrate on my creative work, not my tools. The Manfrotto 808RC4 is such a tool, and I am delighted with it. If you need to support a weighty camera, with ease and with absolute peace of mind, the 808RC4 should be your go-to tripod head.

I prefer pan-tilts over ball heads. This one holds a 5D Mark II with a 28-300mm lens, a fairly heavy combination. I've not yet had it on field trips, but indoors it has performed at or above expectations. I'm sometime quite low to the ground so I could use a little more than a 30-degree tilt. A little imagination with the tripod corrects this.
