Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. can I use a tamron gen 1 150-600 on z50?

A: As long as you have the FTZ Adapter it will connect to the camera. The lens will not auto focus on this camera. You do have aperture control.

Q: 2. how big is the buffer for continuous shooting?

A: Approximately 100 shots for jpeg and 50 shots for raw.

Q: 3. How do I set up back button focus on the Nikon Z50?

A: Go to Custom Settings Menu-then F2, custom controls shooting.

Q: 4. Are the two kit lenses Z mount lenses?

A: Hi--the lenses included in this kit are Z-mount lenses, compatible with the camera.

Q: 5. Will this camera work with the swarovski APO mount on a Swarovski STX 95mm spotting scope?

A: The Swarovski TLS APO 30mm Digiscoping Lens for ATX / STX Spotting Scopes, B&H # SWTLSAATX, would work for your planned usage needs.

Q: 6. Does the Z50 have the focus shifting/stacking feature like the Z6?

A: I'm sorry but the Z50 does not have focus stacking.

Q: 7. Does using the Z50 with original SLR lenses and adapter instead of the Z50 kit lenses basically nullify the weight benefit?

A: The Z50 is very light. But it depends on the specific lens you are using. Some Z mount lenses are heavier than others. The kit lens 16-50 is light and in most cases will be lighter than most DSLR Nikon lenses.

Q: 8. 11 frames per second (fps) in Continuous High Extended--for how many frames?

A: There are three limitations as to the number of shots. Battery life, buffer or memory full.

Q: 9. what size lens filters do I need for each lens?

A: The Nikon NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR Lens (Black) uses a 46mm size filter and the Nikon NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR Lens uses a 62mm size filter.

Q: 10. how do i make the camera stay on longer?

A: It depends on what parts you want to stay on longer. - In the settings menu (the wrench shape) you can set the time of how long the screen is on for. You can even set it to never turn off. - If you mean the life of the battery, you may want to look into some type of AC based power system that can be plugged into the wall or a power source. - If you're talking about taking an extended exposure of something switch the camera to M for manual or S for Shutter and scroll the back command wheel to the shutter speed that will work best for you.

I had bought the wife a Leica Q2 earlier this year for her to use. While she liked using the Q2, at 2+ pounds it felt a little heavy for her. She likes mirrorless. The Z50 fit the bill perfectly.
The kit zoom is totally plastic however the image quality of the Z50 + the kit 16-50 zoom are far and away above what you might expect from this pair.
Excellent color rendition. Excellent image quality (detail sharpness, contrast, color).
And a very light weight less than 1.5 pounds.
Overall I highly recommend the Z50 and the kit zoom.

I have been a Nikon digital camera fan for the past 15 years or so. I have not had to make adjustments to photos from this camera as I have for older Nikon digital cameras.. Does a great job.

I upgraded from a 10-year-old Nikon D90, which still works just fine. I consider this kit quite a bargain. When I first read about the kit components, I was suspicious, but everything is high quality and as advertised. The lenses are real Nikons with typical Nikon quality and even the memory card is top-notch. I really like the camera, which is easy to use and very adaptible. Even the camera bag is well made!

I am more of a fine art photographer than an action photographer, so I chose the Z 50 camera when I wanted to employ a DX sensor to extend the utility of my lenses.

Many lenses designed for a Nikon FX full frame or 36 x 24mm sensor camera, work very well on the cropped or half-seize APS-C sensor. Experience may be your guide, but Nikon lenses such as the popular 38-300mm lens were designed for use on the FX or DX camera bodies. On the Z 50 my 28-300mm has the field of view of (lets do the math: 1.5 x 300 = 450) of a 42 to 450mm lens.

The results are stellar. See my photos attached.

I have been using my new FZ 50 and it is great. I made and upgrade on line to install the adaptor of LSR lenses and everything is going well!

After spending 10 years with a trusty and beloved D-5100, I made the jump to the mirrorless land and this baby delivers. Great quality, well-built and so far my hand is grateful for the weight reduction, the grip is fantastic.

This is a awesome entry level mirrorless camera, and if you're a old film guy like myself with a collection of old Nikon glass, I'd pick up the ZTF adapter too.
