  • For use in panels, boardroom applications, and videoconference situations, the DPA 4098 offers trouble-free installation and delivers pristine, clear sound.
  • The mic reproduces crisp, intelligible speech up to the standards of demanding professionals and panelists, including interpreters who need to be able to clearly hear a speaker's every nuance.
  • The supercardioid polar pattern focuses audio capture tightly on the person directly in front of the mic, picking up less unwanted background sound and helping to reduce feedback when loudspeakers are used for sound reinforcement.
  • The microphone capsule's consistent off-axis response means that speaking into the side of the mic doesn't make the audio sound worse, it just drops the voice level.
  • Even passionate speakers are no problem for the 4098; the capsule can handle loud speech at peak volumes of up to 133 dB SPL before distortion occurs.
  • The factory-mounted foam windscreen helps to reduce breath and plosive noise.

  • The 4098 is available in a variety of configurations for use with podiums, desks, and tabletops; and the shorter models can be mounted in the ceiling.
  • Elegantly designed, the low-profile appearance is well suited to videoconferencing and public announcements.
  • This version features a 6" boom with a full gooseneck to provide optimal positioning for ceiling use.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would the Avenger D200 2.5 grip head tighten around the hexed end of this boom arm?

A: There is a Baby Pin at the end, which a D-200 securely attaches to. This allows me to use a small Baby and Softbox.

Q: 2. I know what this boom arm can supposedly support 15lbs at its max. extension, but what is the load rating at its min. extension? I'm trying to hold a Westcott Zeppelin above and angled over my subject, but the parabolic shape hinders its ability to be angled downwards. As such, I am resorting to using a boom arm to lower its angle. As such, I will not need the longer extensions and want to know how much this arm will hold at its shortest length. I'm looking to hold the Zeppelin 47 , with the Bowens bracket, as well as the focusing rod and the Bowens speed ring to hold my attach my Phottix Indra500 TTL. I think the total weight is something around 17-19lbs.

A: At minimum extension the load capacity is about 66 lbs

Q: 3. Can it go fully vertical when mounted?

A: Putting this boom in a vertical position would leave it slightly tilted.

Q: 4. Black or silver?

A: I have a production company and film, edit all of the work and black is better for blending in and no reflections from the pole. You can still get reflective views off sides of cars, glass etc. Go Black!

Q: 5. How much weight is it rated to hold?

A: Hi DavidAt the arm's full extension the manufacturer advises 7kg or around 15.43lb. I've put the following on with no issues: Profoto D1 with a 3' octobox Bowens Gemini Espirit 500 monolight Profoto D1 with a Mola 22 beauty dish Profoto ProTwin head with Magnum reflector I always have a 10 lb counter weight clamped to the arm for balance. (Those yellow painted ones from Impact)All of this sits on an Avenger C stand, and the whole setup feels very stable. I've used this setup for a couple of years, at the time I bought the arm I looked at a whole bunch of different booms, this arm was the best solution for me for load capacity, portability and price as I had a spare C stand I could mount it to.Hope this helps!

Q: 6. Can I use 1 Profoto B1x with Octa Rfi 5" ?

A: The BH #AVD600 is capable of hold a B1x and a RFI 5' softbox, but only if on a stand that is capable of supporting the payload, boom and counterweight.

Q: 7. I will buy 2, you can send them in one package?

A: For sales inquiries, please email us directly at sales@a href= http://bhphoto.com target= _blank bhphoto.com/a in order for us to best assist you.

Q: 8. How can I attach a manfrotto mhxpro-3w head to the boom arm? I'm using it for overhead shots, and I'm wondering if this setup will work. Thank you.

A: You would need an adapter. The counterweight system gives a lot of flexibility on extension and height.

Q: 9. What's the collapsed length? (Minimum length) It only lists full extension.

A: About 46 fully collapsed

Q: 10. Just wanted to ask if this will work on the Avenger A2018F C-Stand, and if so does it require any type of attachment?

A: Yes, this boom arm will work with all standard c-stands (including the A2018F C-Stand) without the need for any kind of adaptor.

As far as $40 mic stands go, you'd be hard-pressed to beat this one! It's not as good as K&M's more expensive brethren, nor would I expect it to be, but for the money and in comparison to the competition, it's a winner! It's a pretty safe bet for the budget-minded...much better than the $40 piece of **** ProLine I got at GC!!! Should definitely be good enough for all but the most discriminating tastes and/or difficult applications.

If you have used tripods in most music clubs these days, you know about cheap, junky tripods. Many of these barely hold an SM58 reliably, much less a heavier, more expensive microphone. Having nearly lost mics on more than one occasion, I bought better quality tripods for myself. When I began looking for the right combination of quality and weight, I decided on K&M. I have yet to have one fail. Yes, you pay more, but you get what you pay for. One day all of us learn that lesson.

It is stable and it is functional, what more can I say?

With so many mic stands out there, and such a wide range of prices, it was hard to choose. This stand costs a bit more than the rock-bottom models, but as soon as I opened the box, I could see it was worth it. There is nothing fancy about this stand, but it is sturdy and well-made. The base where the legs attach and the boom attachment are both cast steel. The whole stand has a thick smooth powder-coat of black paint. A cast imprint on the boom mount, as well as labeling on the box, says Made in Germany. The mounting threads are clean and sharp. To summarize, a good, strong, well-made basic mic stand at a very sensible price. When I need more stands, I'll get this one again.

With better hardware, such as knobs with hex brass inserts to ensure adequate torquing without stripping, a durable finish, good balance, and a reliable friction mechanism for proper leg retention, these stands are more durable and dependable than others.

I've used this in Film for four interviews...comments are as follows: A). Rather heavy especially when carrying it for some blocks but very well built. B). Configuration wise it is good, Setup is easy, just take care not to over tighten the adjusting knobs, C). Would buy again,
