The brown DPA 6060 CORE is a subminiature, moisture-resistant lavalier microphone designed for use with wireless systems for broadcast, performance, and theatrical applications. The tiny, 3mm electret-condenser capsule delivers crisp, clear, and intelligible speech, while being easy to hide in clothing or costumes, making the mic well suited to the demands of professional presentations, theater and live stage work as well as TV, film, and video productions.

The 6060 shrinks DPA's CORE technology down to a 60% smaller size that still delivers extended dynamic range and extremely low self noise for outstanding sound quality. An included capsule protection grid protects the mic element and supplies a subtle 4 dB soft boost between 8 to 20 kHz, lightly enhancing signal presence to ensure clarity. The cap can be removed for cleaning and attaches to the mic with a firm click that can be felt and heard.

With an SPL rating of 134 dB, the microphone is more than capable of handling most standard speakers, vocalists, and presenters. The 6060 CORE is powered by 5 to 10V plug-in power from a wireless transmitter and features a modular design using a Microdot output connector.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are the 4 tracks recorded separately or is it a final stereo track?

A: Mixed down to stereo.

Q: 2. About how long does it run on batteries (for both running it without phantom power and when running it on phantom power to 1 mic)?

A: Kathryn,The available information on this subject is covered on p.22 of the Owner's Manual:a href= http://tascam.com/product/dr-70d/downloads/ target= _blank http://tascam.com/product/dr-70d/downloads//aThe Battery operation time numbers are derived using the specific batteries indicated.Thank you for your interest in TASCAM products.

Q: 3. Can you gain the output to the cam and by how much, i.e. turning audio on Canon to a notch above zero so to send a hot signal from the tascam and get a decent audio recorded so to avoid later syncing from the double system?

A: Under Menu Monitor, you can set the Camera Out port to either CAM level or LINE level, and there is a separate Output Gain for that port as well, that goes from -12db to +12db.I tried to record to a 5D Mark III, by setting the 5D's audio to manual and turning the gain just 1 click to the right. I set the DR70D to CAM output, and with the gain turned up to +12, the levels still weren't reaching the optimum spot on the camera meters. So I set the Output to LINE instead, and the camera levels jumped up considerably. It describes it in the Tascam Reference book that if the camera levels are too low using CAM setting, to switch over to LINE.I haven't done a comparison to see if LINE is as clean as CAM though.

Q: 4. Hello, the audio recorder seems to be separating each track into a different file, is there a way to avoid this while recording or do it in post? Thanks

A: Hi Carlos- If you're only recording mono, i.e. one single mic, just turn off any channels you don't want to record. Likewise for stereo recording; just turn off any channel(s) without input. (Menu/Basic/Record...) Otherwise, these devices by default record individual files for every track- this is the typical workaround for the limitations with recording audio on DSLR cameras. When I edit with multiple files like this (e.g.: a-Sound on one channel-Nat sound on another), I generally do a sub-edit in one sequence, and copy/paste those edited clips into the master edit. You could also sync the video and related audio channels in one sequence, then export the whole thing as a self-contained file with whatever audio config you want (1ch stereo, 2 monos, etc.). When you bring that clip back into your project, it would then have the audio embedded with the video. Hope that helps...

Q: 5. Does this recorder provide multitrack interface for sound editors, when it is attached to computer via USB?

A: The Tascam DR 70D will not be recognized as an interface when connected to a computer. The USB is only able to be used for data transfer from the SD card.

Q: 6. How does this compare to the DR-60D?

A: There are a few features that differentiate the Tascam DR-70D from the DR-60D. The new DR-70D features 4 XLR mic inputs as opposed to the 2 available on the DR-60D. These inputs also feature upgraded preamps for higher record quality. The DR-70D also has included dual built in mics, all in a lower profile casing.

Q: 7. How does this compare to Zoom H6? Thanks!

A: Works great and I recomend both the Dr-70D and the H6. I have had no issues with either unit.Ron WhittingA F ProductionsTyler,Texas

Q: 8. When mounted to a DSLR, does the DR-70D pick up noise from handling/moving the camera?

A: There is no handling noise transferred to the DR-70D in normal operation. If the internal mics are active, then the possibility may exist.

Q: 9. can i use it for audior recording purpose?

A: Yes.The unit's features and functions are explained here:a href= http://tascam.com/product/dr-70d/ target= _blank http://tascam.com/product/dr-70d//aAn Owner's Manual is available on the DOWNLOADS tab.Thank you for your interest in TASCAM products.

Q: 10. Power cable besides batteries?

A: An AC power adapter/cable is not included. The included USB cable may be used with this optional adapter that is available at an additional cost:The PS-P515U AC to USB Power Adapter from Tascam is a convenient adapter that allows you to power a USB device from an AC power outlet. It is ideal for portable audio recorders, allowing you to run them for hours without worrying about battery life.
