The white DPA 6061 CORE is a subminiature, moisture-resistant lavalier microphone designed for use with wireless systems for broadcast, performance, and theatrical applications. The low-sensitivity electret-condenser capsule can handle even very loud performers to deliver crisp, clear, and intelligible speech. The mic's 3mm size is easy to hide in clothing or costumes, making it well suited to the demands of professional presentations, theater, and live stage work as well as TV, film, and video productions.

The 6061 shrinks DPA's CORE technology down to a 60% smaller size that still delivers extended dynamic range and extremely low self noise for outstanding sound quality. An included capsule protection grid protects the mic element and supplies a subtle 4 dB soft boost between 8 to 20 kHz, lightly enhancing signal presence to ensure clarity. The cap can be removed for cleaning and attaches to the mic with a firm click that can be felt and heard.

With an SPL rating of 144 dB, the microphone is more than capable of handling even very loud vocalists, presenters, and speakers. The 6061 CORE is powered by 5 to 10V plug-in power from a wireless transmitter and features a modular design using a Microdot output connector and separately available adapters.

Q: 1. About how long does it run on batteries (for both running it without phantom power and when running it on phantom power to 1 mic)?

A: Kathryn,The available information on this subject is covered on p.22 of the Owner's Manual:a href= http://tascam.com/product/dr-70d/downloads/ target= _blank http://tascam.com/product/dr-70d/downloads//aThe Battery operation time numbers are derived using the specific batteries indicated.Thank you for your interest in TASCAM products.

Q: 2. Is it possible to pan the 4 channels L-R like a 4-2 mixer? I often record high-school plays/musicals with X-Y stereo array (hard L-R), a shotgun (equal (L-R) and an omni pzm up-stage (equal L-R). It would be nice to mix it up-front like that, record into the A-cam and be done.

A: You can set the left-right position of each recording channel with the PAN item on the BASIC screen.

Q: 3. How does this compare to Zoom H6? Thanks!

A: Works great and I recomend both the Dr-70D and the H6. I have had no issues with either unit.Ron WhittingA F ProductionsTyler,Texas

Q: 4. What's the best setting for DB levels on the line out to A7siii camera. If I set the tascam to +12 then it looks like camera can be at a volume setting of 3. Since the camera preamps are probably worse than the Tascam wouldn't this be best. I read elsewhere to set the Tascam so the camera ends up @ 8. What do you guys think?

A: We recommend using a level matching cable to pad the line level output signal from the Tascam DR-70D so it will provide a compatible signal level that will not overload the camera's mic input. The Sescom LN2MIC-ZOOMH4N Line to Microphone Attenuation Cable for HDSLR Cameras (B&H # SEL2MZH4N) will provide a -25 dB pad for the 70D's line level output and the Kopul ACH4-25MON Line-to-Mic Attenuator Cable (B&H # KOACH425MON) works in the same way and also includes a headphone tap.

Q: 5. Are the 4 tracks recorded separately or is it a final stereo track?

A: Mixed down to stereo.

Q: 6. Can i use this Tascam DR-70D 4 Channel to recorde audior only?

A: Yes. You don't need to connect it to a camera. You can do it, but it also works separately. I use it to record audio separately from the video. And the quality is impressive. Really totally recommendable.

Q: 7. Hello , I recently bought a Tascam dr 70d in bhphotoand I want to know how? to monitor independent mics entries in record mode and pause mode1.01 0044

A: there is no switch to play the tracks separately, which is a shame ...Looking forward to the next generation

Q: 8. When mounted to a DSLR, does the DR-70D pick up noise from handling/moving the camera?

A: There is no handling noise transferred to the DR-70D in normal operation. If the internal mics are active, then the possibility may exist.

Q: 9. Does this recorder provide multitrack interface for sound editors, when it is attached to computer via USB?

A: The Tascam DR 70D will not be recognized as an interface when connected to a computer. The USB is only able to be used for data transfer from the SD card.

Q: 10. Anyone using this device for documentary production? What are the best recording gain and volume for this device for interviews and following characters in a documentary? I just tried testing Ch1 with a Sennheiser wireless lav,ME2, and the gain was set to Medium in the Tascam DR-70D, the volume knobs set in the middle and the I was watching the triangle in the LCD to stay up to that volume level. I took the recorded audio to Premiere and the audio waveform is kind of low. What happens if the volume in the triangle gets pass this and the knobs are higher? And what happens if the Gain is set to High instead? Would I get audio noise of any kind? Thank you for your answers!

A: The triangle you mentioned is the -18dB mark, the next mark is the -6dB. So make sure your recordings are between here. The next mark is -3dB you don't want to go beyond it. But in case if the sound goes beyond -3dB slightly it can still be recovered. At the bottom left corner, you can see the dB readings as the meter bars move.
