The white 8-Way Clip for 6060 Series Microphones from DPA is a special rotatable clip for the DPA 6060 series subminiature lavalier and 4660 heavy-duty omnidirectional microphone (both available separately).

The 360° clip can be used to mount the microphones in eight positions in 45° incremental steps. This makes it easy to use the mic with both women's and men's shirts (left- or right-buttoned), or even in situations involving t-shirts, where the neckline is used. Built-in strain relief helps reduce cable and rustling noise.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a good waterproof microphone and a good waterproof bag that the needed wire could feed through? I need this for onwater recording (mainly canoe, possibly windsurfing)

A: There are several options for waterproof and water-resistant microphones that we typically have available in stock and others that are available by special order. The Point Source Audio Series8 CO-8WL Omnidirectional Waterproof Lavalier Microphone - Beige (B&H# POCO8WLXSEBE) is a true IP57 rated waterproof mic that would be a good option. The Countryman B3 Omni Lavalier Mic, Standard Sens, with 3.5mm Locking Connector for Sennheiser Wireless Transmitters - Black (B&H# COB3W4BSR) is a good option for a water-resistant mic that's IP67 rated and can be used for water sports as well as reporting during a hurricane. Countryman's EMW Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone with Flat Frequency Response for Sennheiser Transmitters - Black (B&H# COMEMWFBSR) is also IP67 rated. The Voice Technologies VT500WATER Waterproof Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone with 3.5mm Locking Mini Connector, Black - (B&H# VOVT0155) is IPX7 rated and is available by special order. We also have a Deity Microphones W.Lav Pro DA35 Bundle Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone with Microdot to Locking 3.5mm Adapter - Beige (B&H# DEWLAVPROD35) in stock which is IP57 waterproof rated, but it uses an adapter that sticks out and adds additional width. You may be able to use a small waterproof neoprene Zing Designs Camera Pouch (B&H# ZICPSB) which has an internal bag with a corded pull closure and additional flap that secures with a hook-and-loop fastener. The pouch has a belt loop and the pull closure cord also functions as a neck strap to provide different options to secure it. You should be able to feed the mic cable through the top of the pouch and under the flap. Dimensions of the F2 are 2.3 x 1.8 x 0.9" and the small Zing pouch is 3.75 x 2.75 x 1.5". This should provide sufficient protection from splashes though I would not recommend allowing it to become fully submerged. Please contact us by phone or through live chat on the website if you would like further assistance.

Q: 2. Does this recorder support exFAT file system? Does it have a limit to file size? Some recorders break and restart new files at a 2gig limit. Can you make a 3, or 5 or 8 gig single audio file?

A: No, the F2 records 32-bit float WAV file format and is BWF compatible. It records to microSD cards up to 512 GB maximum. The recording continues until you press the stop button and does not automatically break in the middle to start a new file so you can make 3, 4, or 5 GB single recorded audio files.

Q: 3. can i add rode videomic ntg on this?

A: Yes, you can use a standard TRS cable for the 3.5mm output. Since the F2 has a locking connector, use a cable like the Sennheiser CL1 3.5mm to 3.5mm Output Cable for EW Series Camera-Mount Receiver (B&H# SECL1) which has a non-locking 3.5mm TRS connector on one side and a locking 3.5mm TRS connector for the recorder's input. This cable is 20" long but you can use a standard aux extension cable like the Hosa Technology Stereo Mini Male to Stereo Mini Female Audio Cable - 10' (B&H# HOSMMSMF10) or any similar cable in the length you need. Connect the male end to the mic's output and the female end will connect to extend the length of the cable connected to the F2's locking input.

Q: 4. Will this act as an audio input device via the usb?

A: No, the F2 does not function as an audio input device like a USB audio interface. When connected to a computer via USB, the F2 can transfer files and you can also control the F2's settings while using the F2 Editor app. The USB port can also be used with Zoom's AD-17 adapter for AC power.

Q: 5. Can this record stereo if using an adapter for the mic input?

A: The F2 does record audio on two channels. When using the included microphone (which has a single mic element and a 3.5mm TRS locking connector) the audio recorded is dual mono, so it is the same audio on both the left and right channels. An actual stereo microphone uses two individual elements to deliver different audio on the left and right channels. Using an adapter for the mic input of the F2 may not provide actual stereo separation. Please contact us by phone or through live chat on the website if you would like further assistance.

Q: 6. The included mic has decent gain. My TR-50 lavs barely move the meter and the waveform doesn't even show audio. When I normalize the audio is there, I know this is 32 bit floating point, but I'd like to have at least some normal input level. Is the answer to only use their included lav?

A: Yes this Mic is pretty good will get the job done! for Blogeer or interview

Q: 7. Can I use the Mic input to record audio from output of any Aux out of a mixer, ? or would i need an adapter for that input?

A: In order to record audio from the aux output of a mixer on the Zoom F2 Portable Field Recorder, you will need to use a combination of adapters. The 3.5mm input on the F2 uses a locking connector and it accepts mic level signal, so you will need to use a line-to-mic attenuator to convert the line level output from the mixer to a mic level signal. If the mixer has a 3.5mm TRS aux output, you can use the Kopul ACH4-25MON Line-to-Mic Attenuator Cable (B&H # KOACH425MON), then add on a female coupler like the Hosa Technology GMM303 3.5mm Female Stereo Mini to 3.5mm Female Stereo Mini Adapter (B&H # HOASMFSMF). Finally, to connect to the locking input on the F2, attach the Sennheiser CL1 3.5mm to 3.5mm Cable (B&H # SECL1).

Q: 8. The Zoom F2 records in mono only, is that correct? So only 1 channel can be recorded, right?

A: Correct! The Zoom F2 Ultracompact Portable Field Recorder with Lavalier Microphone (BH #ZOF) records mono tracks only. It records the same mono audio on both the left and right channels with the included single-element microphone.

Q: 9. I'd love to use this as a backup for a system that's already working well. I assume you'd have to use this upstream of any other device to capture guaranteed non-clipped audio?

A: The F2 is capable of 32-bit float recording which allows you to capture intensely loud signals without overloading the A/D converters and bring in extremely quiet sounds without overwhelming noise, all without requiring any gain adjustment before or during the recording process. Audio levels in a 32-bit float WAV file can be adjusted up or down after recording using most major DAW software and without adding noise or distortion. This technology is a game changer.

Q: 10. Can it work with a Sanken COS-11D lav mic?

A: No, the Sanken COS-11D Lavalier Microphone is not compatible for use with the Zoom F2 Field Recorder. The mic requires 3 to 10V of plug-in power and the recorder can only supply 2.5V.
