I’ve been very happy with this drive over the past few months. The price per TB was great, and with a Sabrent enclosure I’ve gotten good read / write speeds. Previously I’ve bought a bunch of assorted external drives from WD, Seagate, LaCie, and G-Technology, but moving forward I may try to switch over to these for long term backups.

The 8TB is a good sweet spot for me in terms of how much data I can back up, and it also tends to be the best price / TB across a lot of brands, plus it’s still affordable enough that you’re not wringing your hands agonizing over whether you should get a new drive when your old one is almost full.

My main computer is split between an SSD drive for programs and a large hard drive to store my photos. I thought 2 TB would be enough to handle all my needs, but after four years the drive was getting full and performance was declining. I was thinking about getting a new computer, but decided to double the size of the hard drive instead. Purchase and shipping was flawless. Installation was fairly easy. I had backed everything up and the whole process took about four hours. Very pleased with outcome.

Deployed in NAS, working as of this review. I can't really tell if it's louder than my WD drives but it preforms well.

Put it in a Ubiquiti CloudKey. Does the job. We get a month of backups off 4 cameras.

Backing up your computer is essential to continue working in today's atmosphere of power surges and spikes as well as program updates that mess up your programing or back up wiping out files or corrupting them!! You need back ups and several back ups won't hurt if your computer crashes, and you can't access important data , like customer files you will only let it happen to you once !!!

This is the second drive like this I have bought. Yes, I would have loved to get a SSD drive this big and much faster. But for reasonable cost and the huge amount of storage space, this drive is a winner.

Others have said this drive fails for them. I've never had that issue. Standard archive storage drive for me.

The drive serves its purpose, a little loud when starting up but works without issue.
