A: Hi George, The Leveling base is used to level the bottom/base of the head. If you use the virtual horizon feature in your camera it will be fine for single images, but if you want to do a stitch panoramic you will have to level the base and the top of the head. It all depends on what you want to do. If your tripod has a level on the base you can level the base by adjusting the legs.
