Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How is the 290 carbon fiber monopod different from the 294 carbon fiber monopod? Is this just a rebranding of the 294?

A: I dont know about the carbon, but I bought the alu one and in that case it is just a matter of rebranding. The weight difference is insignificant between alu & carbon in my opinion so I choose alu.

Q: 2. How does the Manfrotto 234RC monopod head mate up to this monopod? It appears the mounting plate is as large in diameter as the 290 Xtra tripod.

A: It matches up perfectly. This is the combination I have and I've been very happy with it.

Q: 3. why are the specs for the aluminum and carbon manfrotto 290 exactly the same?

A: Hi, the carbon fiber version is actually very slightly lighter and has a very slightly smaller diameter: the actual weight of the aluminum version is 1.19 lbs. and the weight of the carbon fiber version is 1.1 lbs.. The diameter of the carbon fiber version is less than .5" smaller than the diameter of the aluminum version. The differences were lost in rounding the measurements in our description.

Q: 4. The morning screw on this is much larger than the one on my dslr. What adapter do I need to use this?

A: The mounting thread on this monopod has a smaller mounting thread inside the larger one. You just have to push down on the edge of the larger one to expose the smaller one on the inside.

Q: 5. Is it possible to attach a round rubber foot to this monopod?

A: No.

Q: 6. Can i use this tripod with the manfrotto 502 HD head?

A: Yes, it works with the flat base version, MVH502AH. It won't work with the half ball version.

Q: 7. Will this work with the Benro Triple Action Ball Head w/ PU60 Quick Release Plate?

A: Yes, it is compatible.

Q: 8. I have an Arca-Swiss ball head. Will that work with this?

A: Sorry I only use for my 300/2.8 lens . Mount directly to lens

Q: 9. Which replacement rubber tip fits this tripod leg?

A: According to Manfrotto that is part number R1009,33. Unfortunately, we do not carry this item.

Q: 10. Accepts Manfrotto498RC2?Wonders if this question has already been answered,,,,sorry if I missed.

A: yes, i have the 498rc2 head and it fits perfectly. i used this setup on a recent trip to South Africa and it was the best investment i made. if you have the money go for the carbon fiber version, but i felt the aluminium to be equally good, if you are not going to be using a very heavy lense
