A: You are better off without it. If you photograph the front of the box to see the light pattern, you can see that the deflector plate casts a big shadow right in the middle. Without the deflector plate, and orienting the flash so the beam width is parallel to the long side of the box, and using the WA diffuser on the flash, the light is nice and even.

A: Hi Samantha,I don't have mine in front of me but I seem to remember that if you pull aside the material from the soft box from the mounting ring you will find one or more screws that can be loosened allowing you to rotate the soft box portion on the mounting ring. Hope that helps.Sean
