The Dymo LabelWriter 5XL USB Label Printer is designed for several different applications, such as mailing and shipping, specialty labels (such as name tags and price tags), assets and barcoding, and files and binders. Thanks to its direct thermal printing technology, you'll be able to print without the need of ink or toner. Q: 5. Hi, which wifi usb adapter works with this printer? I tried with Tenda W311MI Wireless N150 Pico USB Adapter and didn't work. Edup Dp-ms15003 300m Wireless Networking USB Adapter is no longer available.

A: I figured this out on my own. It needs to be a VERY old style controller with the simplest WiFi drivers. Try all of those supported by Tiny Linux like units for the Raspberry Pi. I used an LB Link Wireless USB Adapter BL-LW05-AR5. The units are plug an play. If it's going to work the printer immediately recognizes it on power up. Start with machine OFF and plug in WiFi Adapter. Power unit up. If it doesn't recognize it after POST it will not work. Power down remove and try another brand.RAH

Q: 6. I need to print in 6x8, from a macbook pro. Possible with this machine. You sell the paper. I need a separate adapter?

A: Hello! I can honestly say it is an investment! Works great with the mac. Just download the drivers off the Hiti website and all is set to go. BH photo sells two 500print paper rolls including the dye sub media. You will love it! I run lightroom on a mac and print from lightroom! Works great!

I'm using This printer for photobooth and works great but I have a question regsrding camera to pc connection: Is there a long USB cable that Can be used when camera is tethered to a laptop/desktop? Tried a 10ft USB cable and camera was not recognized. I had to use a shorter ( 6ft ) long USB cable and it worked fine but I really need the extra 4ft.

A: I use this printer for our photo booths and event photography. I have used it when I have tethered our canon camera. I have never had a issue. I also use a usb extension with a booster attached.

Q: 9. Can I print it straight from my canon eos 30d? If not do you have something similar that does?

A: No, in order to be able to print directly from a camera, a printer needs to support Pictbridge. Unfortunately there are no similar Dye Sublimation printers with that feature other than the compact and portable ones such as the Canon Selphy printers.

Q: 10. Is there any way to padlock this printer at an event?

A: There is no way to lock this printer unfortunately as it comes. The one way would be to put it in a case that can be used with a lock. However we do not have an option for it..

It has a compact size and meets all of my needs. My only suggestion for improvement would be wifi capabilities, as this requires connecting directly to a computer with a cord. This little guy will save me so much on my printer ink and tape. Before I was printing my labels and taping them to the package but with this they print onto a sticker which helps me get the job done faster. Speaking of fast, the speed which something prints from this is almost instantaneous. The software makes creating labels quick and easy. You can print more than just shipping labels too. It will print whatever you want onto a sticker. Choose your text, photo, font and clip art with ease. It does only print in black and white because it’s a thermal printer, which does not use ink. I love how small it is, so I’m not using up all the space on my desk. The only thing that was remotely difficult was installing the label roll into the printer, which was likely user error anyway. If you participate in e-commerce or need to ship your products, this is an excellent investment. 5
