I selected this flash+umbrella bracket based on the criteria of durability and precision of engineering. I have no doubt that this bracket can support at least the recommended limit of 62lb, if not more--t is highly well-made and the parts are thick, rigid and strong. They fit together well and move smoothly. I spent the money on an over-designed light stand so my system would have stability, and this bracket is the perfect compliment. The hinge joint is machined to lock into pre-defined angles that appear to be machined at equal intervals. The action of this mechanism is smooth and strong. It snaps into place and the knob tightens (and locks) it. This design takes basically all of the strain off of the knob so it won't wear out. Another feature that I like is the umbrella clamp. Instead of allowing the knob to tighten down on the umbrella shaft (which can leave permanent indentations in the shape of the knob's bolt that weaken the shaft over time), there is a curved clamp that fits around the shaft and disperses the pressure. Not only does this prevent damage of the shaft, but the it locks the umbrella in place better and with significantly less pressure. Finally, the cold shoe is also strong and smooth. It has generous enough jaws to give me confidence in the security of my Speedlights. It's a dollar or two more expensive than the lower-end Phottix Various model, but this one has the benefit of a removable top stud (connected to the cold-shoe mount). It can also hold a few more pounds. There is one model that is even more sturdy than this one that costs a few dollars more but that upgrade doesn't appear to add any additional features.

I have three or four old flash shoe umbrella holders and they're just awful. I decided to purchase a new set and agonized over the many choices. I was set to buy the Manfrottos?which look elegant?until I read the reviews warning about fit on some stands. I finally settled on the Varos Pro M and am delighted with them. Very strong and very well designed, these silver umbrella holders have numerous features. They use an adjustable cold shoe that adapts to any size shoe and fits firmly and securely. The umbrella opening is slanted so that your flash head points into the umbrella's center. The screw that secures the umbrella shaft features a concave shoe so that your umbrella shafts don't get pinched. The shoe can be mounted on top or on the side, for multiple angle options. The mounting screw for your stands also has a quick release for double security. I can't quite figure out how it works, but it does ease one's mind. Finally, the tilting mechanism is ratcheted, so when you settle on an angle, it's secure and won't slip. At first I wasn't sure about the silver color?most umbrella holders are black, but now that I have them on stands with umbrellas, they're really nice looking. If cosmetics of such a utilitarian item concerns you, these look cool. I recommend them highly. After many frustrating years, these work great and make life much easier.

This umbrella holder works great. It can hold even some really big umbrellas. The knobs have good feeling, it's easy to tighten them. Flash is attached securely. Overall it is a good quality product, does its job as designed.

This is one of the rare umbrella holders/brackets that is made of metal. Extremely sturdy, and notched so it does locks in position as you rotate forward and backward.

I dont know about you but Ive some stand mounts that work great on Manfrotto stands but wont fit on a Matthews C-Stand.  Frustrating!  This works on both.  The spring loaded locking feature is a nice touch that says lets make sure youre ready to remove me.  The umbrella lock also features a curved plate at the end of the screw to apply firm pressure but will not dig in to the umbrella shaft like a normal screw would.  Using a pair of these with Godox AD200s and large and small umbrellas.

Used to hold a speedlight and medium size umbrella on a lighting stand for studio shots. Can also be used on a tripod. Wide variety of options to attach and position speedlights and light modifiers. Well-designed and built product.

I have a couple of the Impact ones and while they are nice, this one is better. Very sturdy, has a clip to hang battery packs, and I just like the color. It also has a cupped piece of metal in the umbrella hole that wont dent the umbrella shaft when you tighten the screw. There is a quick disconnect button for the light stand as well as a screw to tighten. I will probably be replacing the two Impact ones I have with these. Highly recommend.
