Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Where can you get this filmed developed on to CD in the U.K.?

A: Its called google....

Q: 2. can i develop ilford ortho, using cinestill Df96?

A: The manufacture of Cinestill DF96 Monobath for Black & White Film lists many films as compatible. They do not list that film. It is possible that it can work fine with that film. But you will need to experiment on the dilutions. This is the information on that developer and possible dilutions, https://bit.ly/30uzYuR . And this is the developers and dilutions Ilford list for that film, https://bhpho.to/33lxT6c .

Q: 3. Can I use this in my Agfa Optima IIS?

A: The Agfa Optima llS is a 35mm camera so yes, you can run a roll of Agfapan through it.

Q: 4. the film processing only says Black & white, is it ok if the developer uses color processing?

A: This is b&w film that uses b&w chemistry only. No color chemistry should be used.

Q: 5. Can you compare this to Adox CMS 20?

A: Lomography Fantome Kino 8 Black and White Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures) has an ISO of 8 and is a contrasty film. It can be developed in standard B&W chemistry. In contrast, Adox CMS 20 II Black and White Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures) has an ISO of 20 but is also ultra-fine grain. This film has a better dynamic range than Lomography Fantome Kino 8 Black and White Negative Film. This film is not meant for standard process developers, and ADOTECH IV is the recommended developer.

Q: 6. What is the total thickness of the 70mm film? (emulsion + base). Does "layer" thickness listed in the film specs indicate total thickness? I understand that there is no backing paper on this film. The 70mm film is not listed on the Ilford website. Thanks.

A: Yes the layer thickness listed here would indicate the total thickness.

Q: 7. What are the differences between this, the Retro 400s, vs the RPX 400?

A: The main difference is, Rollei Retro 400S Black and White Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures) is more sensitive to Infrared light. But in most uses you will not see the difference.

Q: 8. how many rolls

A: That is one roll of film.

Q: 9. Is this the bricks of 10 packaging or is this really MFR # 1574616 (as the description says) which are 50 FOIL-WRAPPED films? That does make a difference to me traveling... Thanks!

A: the bricks of 10 are not foil wrapped. the film rolls are in plastic canisters.

Q: 10. What is expiration date of this film?Thank you.

A: Unfortunately, we do not have access to our inventory and cannot provide this type of information; however, any film that was within 6-months of its expiration date would be sold as short dated and listed as such on our site. All other film will be at least 6 months out from its expiration date.

I have no idea why this film is so cheap. There is nothing budget about the results it produces. The grain size structure is very similar to SP4+ but it is tiny bit less contrasty than SP4+. This film is a pleasure to scan and post-process. It dries flat and gives you a wide tonal range. The images I get from this film require much, much less post-processing than HP5+

I am developing it with ID-11 using stock dilution. If you shoot a ton of ISO 100 film, this is a great option because you can make it indistinguishable from SP4+ with post-processing.

Very nearly resembles FP4 but at a lower cost. Shoots, develops, & scans great. Lots of latitude & dynamic range.
I'll keep bulk rolling this as long as they sell it!

Quality is fine, no issues. I like that it's a fine-grained, medium-contrast film that happens to be very affordable.
Because of how I load film in my cassettes, this film costs about $2.00 per roll, a great price.
Looking at the results, it seems to be FP4+ cast-offs, which is fine by me. It looks good, shoots well, and processes easily.
I've developed in HC-110, Pyrocat-HD and Rodinal. All of these developers work great with this film.

I bought five rolls of the Kentmere Pan 100 to document my life during the Covid-19 quarantine. I typically prefer the look of Kodak Tri-X, but I didn't want to pay the premium. With the money I'm saving I'm stocking up on toilet paper and ammo.

This is now my everyday B&W film. It is consistently good, has fine grain and a wide latitude, and is very affordable. Harman quality at a bargain price.
