Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. will it fit on Sony 18-110mm f4 ?

A: No it cannot. This matte box is only compatible with lenses that have a diameter smaller than 95mm.

Q: 2. With a S35 sensor like the BMPCC 6K Pro and a Tokina BH #TOTC1120EF will get vignette at 11mm?

A: When you are using a lens that wide, you will likely get vingetting with the Tilta Mirage Matte Box. This is consistent with most other matte boxes and wide angles lenses. Tilta recommends staying at 18mm and above while using this matte box on a Super35 sensor.

Q: 3. Can I still use threaded filters on the lens with the VND or does the glass of the VND rest right on the lens?

A: Yes, you are still able to use circular filters on your lens while using this matte box.

Q: 4. Hi, I apologize as I myself admit that to some extent this question seems to already have been answered, but I just wanted to absolutely confirm this. To my understanding, from what is written in the description of the product, "The Wireless Controller [of the Mirage] mounts via NATO rail and can control the Nucleus M and Nano motor, as well as the Wireless Motor for the Tilta Mirage." My question is simpy: can the Mirage Wireless Controller be programmed so that it controls the Wireless Motor for the Tilta Mirage with the controller wheel and at the very same time controls a Nucleus Nano motor with the zoom buttons on the Mirage Wireless Controller? Essentially what I would preferably like to do is have the Mirage wireless controller control two motors but one through the wheel and one through the buttons on the controller? This would be a very practical solution for me on my gimbal because I would obviously be able to control the VND filter as well as a zoom wheel on a lens all with one controller only. Please let me know. Thank you.

A: The Mirage wireless controller is a 1 axis controller this means that it can only control 1 motor at a time. It can control the Mirage VND or it can control the Nano but it can not do both at the same time. Consider the Tilta Nucleus-M FIZ Hand Unit if you want to control the Variable ND, the nucleus Nano, and even a 3rd motor simultaneously.

Q: 5. Will there be 4x5.6 tray that will allow a graduated ND to be raised and lowered?

A: You can use the Tilta 4 x 5.65" Stackable Filter Tray Holder for Mirage Matte Box to add a compatible 4 x 5.65" filter tray to the Tilta Mirage VND Kit with Mirage Matte Box; however, the filter tray will not be moveable.

Q: 6. Does the basic kit still include a 4x5.56" filter tray and a rod clamp?

A: Please add the following 4x5.65 tray to your Tilta Mirage matte-box purchase it is not included. Please note that the 15mm LWS Rod Support adapter is included. Tilta 4 x 5.65" Stackable Filter Tray Holder for Mirage Matte Box BH #TIMBT16SFH

Q: 7. Would this work on Bmpcc 6k pro

A: Yes, the Tilta Mirage Matte Box is compatible with the BMPCC 6K Pro. This kit comes with four (4) adapter rings (67, 72, 77, 82mm).

Q: 8. Does a 95mm Cine lens fit?

A: Yes, the Tilta Mirage Matte Box fits lenses with a 95mm front diameter.

Q: 9. Is there some kind of bracket available for me to attach my Nexus 7 to use as a monitor? Something that would make it quick and easy to clip on or remove when I set up the jib?

A: If the mount he has for his Nexus 7 has a 1/4 -20 or 3/8 threaded stud there are several places where an arm can be screwed into the pillar of the Jib-Arm.

Q: 10. Does Tilta offers a 80 mm to 95 mm adapter for Mirage? If not, how can I use my lenses with it because it has a 80 mm front diameter.

A: Unfortunately Tilta does not make an 80mm to 95mm step up adapter for the Mirage. The best thing to do is to search for an 80mm to 82mm step up ring or use paper tape.
