Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with a Nikon D3s and a Nikon Coolpix P-1000? Also what is the second box attached in the configuration picture?

A: Yes, the following monitor will accommodate both units.

Q: 2. Does this monitor have different aspect ratio guides such as 1:85 and 2:35?

A: This monitor can display the following: 16:10, 16:9, 4:3, 1.85:1, and 2.35:1.

Q: 3. Will this monitor stretch the DSLR signal to fill the screen?

A: I do not use it with a DSLR, but I think I read in the manual that it will stretch it.

Q: 4. Will this monitor connect to a 5DIII? If so, what type of cable will it require? Same question for a 7DII. Thank you.

A: Hey Mike, to answer your question. Yes, this will connect to an 5D Mark III. The cable you need is already included. My only advice for you is to buy an additional battery as the monitor does not come with one. You can buy the same battery that the 5D uses and that's a huge plus. Hope this helps. The monitor is great, I've had it for about 2 months and no problems. Just a 5 sec lag when you start up the monitor and camera. So when you have them connected, just let it do it's thing and the image will show up after at least 5 sec.

Q: 5. Does this unit work with the Canon 40D ?

A: Yes, using composite video instead of HDMI, this should work with a Canon 40D. You will, however, need an RCA coupler (B&H # TEARCAFRCAF) to connect the composite video cable that came with your 40D to the composite video cable that comes with this monitor (both cables are 1/8 male to RCA male).

Q: 6. Can I use this monitor as HDR monitor with Blackmagic decklink card in my computer for color grade HDR ?

A: While the Elvid 5" RigVision HDR On-Camera Touchscreen Monitor could be connected to a Blackmagic Design DeckLink card, the monitor is designed for on camera use. For an HDR monitor for color grading an option would be the BenQ SW321C 32" 16:9 4K HDR IPS Photo and Video Editing Monitor, BH #BESW321C.

Q: 7. Will it work with Canon EOS cameras ?

A: Yes, the Elvid 5" RigVision HDR On-Camera Touchscreen Monitor would work with Most any camera that can output video on HDMI. Please note that most Canon Camera models will require a Mini to HDMI cable to connect to the display. ZILR Hyper-Thin High-Speed Mini-HDMI to HDMI Cable with Ethernet (17.7") BH #ZI4KP60MC17 Also make sure to add a Battery: Watson NP-F770 Battery Kit with Compact AC/DC Charger BH #WANPF770CK

Q: 8. What type of V mount battery would this monitor accept with the plate adapter?

A: The included plate adapter is not a battery mount. The plate adapter is used to mount a v or gold mount battery plate on to the monitor itself. So the choice is yours.

Q: 9. Will this work on the Panasonic GH4?

A: It works with HDMI input so as long as the camera has that function it will work fine

Q: 10. Can I see what the false color settings are anywhere ? Can you set them yourself?

A: The false color settings are displayed on the screen when false color is enabled. The majority of the parameters for the False color settings can not be adjusted however, you are able adjust the over and under exposure warnings.

I am glad I bought the 10.1 instead of a smaller monitor. I use it on an ARRI ALEXA Classic, and it sits well on top of the large camera. I had some trouble finding out which cables to use and had to buy an extra one or two, but I am still learning the gear. I am happy with this monitor.

I’m impressed by the brightness and clarity of this on-camera monitor. I’ve used Elvid units in the past and found this new RigVision really sets itself apart from a color reproduction and image quality perspective. When tethered to my Panasonic GH5, I felt that I could actually reliably scrutinize my image in the field and have a critical eye for focus, exposure and color whereas I’d previously only truly rely on a monitor of this size as a reference for framing.

I was able to use this outside on a fairly sunny day in June, around noon, with little compromise to visibility. Focus peaking works great and the touchscreen is nice to have, even if I’m personally inclined to not muck up the screens with fingerprints. To that point, however, screen protectors are included. Build quality is a little lighter that I expected and some of the buttons don’t have the most satisfying response — “clicky(?) maybe — but the lack of a bulky, heavy build actually made it easier to wield when shooting. I particularly liked throwing some custom and downloaded LUTs on the flash drive and auditioning them in the field.

You’ll need your own HDMI cable and Sony L-Series battery but, aside from that, this is ready to pair with your favorite camera!

The display is exactly what is outlined in the overview. The unit is bright enough for outdoor use. Very light eight. I am not disappointed with any of the features or the build quality, you get what you pay for and in this case it is as described. If you need weather tight then spend a little more. I use my
Elvid 5 RigVision HDR On-Camera Touchscreen Monitor for zooming in on still photos for composition and focus. Nice for what I do.

Let me start by saying there is a lot to like about this monitor.

The Elvid 7 has become my new favorite on-camera monitor. I swap it back and forth between my RED and my XT3.

The build quality is on par with other monitors in this category. It's lightweight but also feels pretty solid. It can take Sony or Canon batteries. I only use the Sony since you get more battery time.

It comes with a cold shoe mount, back plates, mini hdmi to hdmi cable, power source and one of my favorite things, the sun hood. This sun hood sets up in seconds and works great. I've had my fair share of sun hoods and this is by far my favorite. It snaps right on and off and works great.

The monitor has HDMI and 3G-SDI inputs. It has waveform, histogram, vectorscope, false color, focus peaking zebras, pretty much the expected tools you would want in an on-camera monitor. The menus work fast and are super simple to get through quickly.

I have not tried the built in LUTS or user LUTS but it's nice to know that the option is available. I often use this in conjunction with the 5 inch RED monitor and it's nice to be able to have a REC.709 preview while the other monitor is log.

This thing is pretty bright on it's own in broad daylight but tossing the sun hood on makes it perfect for outdoor run and gun shooting. In those scenarios this has completely replaced my RED monitor and to be honest I can see this replacing my 5 inch monitor altogether. The image is more crisp, viewing angles seem better and it's brighter.

I really like the freeze frame option and the fact that I can have an sdi in and send an hdmi out to another monitor. The zoom function also works way faster than the default RED punch in.

It's also an HDR monitor which I look forward to testing out this mode more.

I am very pleased with this monitor, I wish I had one for each camera.

Bought it for an old camera setup.
Camera had no live view but did have video slot.
Will not solve live view issues.
Entire mount allows easy viewing.
