Syrp Variable Nd Filter Kit (67mm, 1 To 8.5-stop)

$524.64 $797.45

Offering the versatility to fine-tune exposure reduction between 1 and 8.5 stops, the 67mm Variable ND Filter Kit from Syrp contains an ND filter along with two step-up rings to further extend its use on lenses of varying diameters. The 0.3-2.55 density can easily be controlled by rotating the front filter ring, allowing you to slow your shutter speed or work with a wider aperture setting than normally required. By offering the ability to adjust different density values, this filter can effectively be used in a wide range of situations and controlled to meet your exposure needs.

The optical glass substrate is set within an aluminum alloy filter ring, which features knurled edges for enhanced grip when manipulating the density value or when installing or removing the filter. Additionally, the ring is visually demarcated with index points for repeatable control when adjusting settings. The glass construction is also coated in order to minimize surface reflections and provide greater image contrast and clarity.

Additionally, also included in this kit are two step up rings-58-67mm and 52-67mm-to further extend the versatility of this filter. Both of these step-up rings enable the attachment of this 67mm filter to lenses of smaller diameters.

Variable density filter allows you to dial in differing amounts of density from scene to scene

0.3 to 2.55 density filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required

Providing a reduction of 1 to 8.5 stops, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily

When used by filmmakers, this filter helps to eliminate the rolling shutter effect associated with faster shutter speeds.

Optical glass substrate is coated to minimize surface reflections and glare for greater image contrast and clarity. Additionally, this coating also protects the surface of the filter from fingerprints, scratches, and other elements.

The aluminum alloy filter ring measures 9mm-thick and has front threads for stacking additional filters or attaching a lens cap.

This kit includes two step-up rings to enable the attachment of the 67mm variable ND filter to lenses featuring smaller front filter thread diameters. Both 58-67mm and 52-67mm rings are included, and both are made from 3mm-thick aluminum alloy.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are these stackable?

A: According to Freewell it is not recommended to stack these as it and cause vignetting. Technically speaking it is possible, not recommended.

Q: 2. Does the kit come with a magnetic base ring 82mm?

A: No, the Freewell All-Day VND 2-5 and 6-9 stop 2-filter kit does not come with a magnetic filter ring.

Q: 3. Will this fit over a 67 mm B&W ND filter on my lens or do I need to remove the ND filter first. Also, will a 67mm lens cap fit on this Syrp ND filter?

A: If your existing filter has 67mm front filter threads, you can attach a Syrp 67mm Variable Neutral Density Filter to it. It isn't recommended to use more than one ND filter at a time, however. You can attach a 67mm lens cap to this filter.

Q: 4. What size is the front filter thread?

A: 7artisans Photoelectric 82mm 8-Stop Variable ND Filter does not have front threads. You can not stack another filter or cap on top of this ND.

Q: 5. Is the front of this threaded to stack a diffusion filter with?

A: The front threading is mainly for use with a standard pinch type lens cap but it can also accept another filter.

Q: 6. Is this a screw- on ND filter?

A: Yes, the Lee 72mm Elements Variable ND filter is a screw-on filter.

Q: 7. I am wondering- if you had two of these filters stacked, would you be able to safely shoot the coming eclipse?? Stop wise it would seem so. I already own one and love this filter.

A: Everything that I have read on Canon's website and the Eclipse 2017 website says NO! Regular ND filters will not work. The filter needs to be photographic filters for solar photography. The danger is damaging the camera sensor, your eyes, and the camera electronics. You want to get a White Light Solar Filter, such as made by StarGuy.

Q: 8. I see the filter does not protrude from the sides like most NDs. Can you use the original lens hood with this filter?

A: Most likely, yes, but it depends on the lens and the hood.

Q: 9. can you attach another filter like a blackpro mist or moment cinebloom?

A: Theses filters do not have front threads, if the other filter you are using has front threads, then you can stack these on top.

Q: 10. May i know what is the full diameter of the filter for 67mm, 72mm, 77mm, and 82mm?

A: Sorry I can't measure precisely but the system is no larger than standard filters. The diameter is about 2mm larger than the thread size and flush with the lens barrel. The magnetic system is built in to the rim of the filters so it does not take additional space.

I have taken a few shoots outside with this product and so far I truly love it. The only bad thing I can really say about it is that you must get the threads carefully aligned before screwing it on and with a gloved hand that's a little challenging. I don't see any image softening at all & I've used it on 2 lenses so far: the 50mm 1.4 G & the Tamron 28-75mm 2.8LD Xi which I just bought used. I bought this for taking pictures of black cows & horses, as well as in situations during the middle of the day under the trees with the high sun at the subject's back. I'm attaching two images, the first with the 50mm & the 2nd with the zoom. I believe I achieved what I was after. Please note the images are unedited.

A variable ND filter with a step down ring in a snazzy case.

Be aware that they sell TWO versions with different ranges

I love the attention to detail in the design and packaging. I did run into a slight vignetting at 16 mm in some extremely harsh lighting but I would still buy again and again.

I gave it five stars for build, value and performance within its capabilities. It did not work well with my mirror less Zeiss 12mm. But was fine with 18mm and greater. You must stay a little before the end indication to avoid the polarized X. The step down rings were well made just the sizes I needed.

This filter was purchased to be used for video recording with my Nikon D5500. Everything about this filter is great: it starts with fantastic, stylish and protective packaging which screams quality already. The included two step up rings allow me to use this filter on all of my lenses. The image quality is really stunning - I tried it at a wide angle (18mm) as well as 35mm, using the spectrum of ND settings with no noticeable color cast for both, still photos and video. No issue so far with sun glare or image sharpness. The knurl is nice, the marking readable and the filter has hard stops. The only slight annoyance is that when adjusting the filter one way the step-up ring can come loose if you don't grab the adjustment ring quite right. Otherwise I am extremely happy with my purchase.
