Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with the smallrig advanced cage (6k pro)?

A: No, this is designed to be used with Tilta cages or the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema cameras directly.

Q: 2. Will this hold a brick battery like the Propac 65wH or the Hytron 100?

A: Yes, the Tiltaing gold mount battery baseplate provides 15mm rails that allows end-users to swap them out to accommodate all battery size.

Q: 3. I have Ronin Rsc2 Will it work with Hydra?

A: I don't suggest using the Ronin SC2 Gimbal with the Hydra since your only mounting point is a single 1/4"-20 screw. Here is why the Tilta Hydra is meant for the Ronin S2 Gimbal: The Tilta Hydra has a quick release plate that uses two screws to attach to the Ronin S2 Power Supply Baseplate. The Ronin S2 Gimbal is then inserted and locked onto the Ronin S2 Power Supply Baseplate. There is also a hex screw and arm that further secure the gimbal and power supply baseplate. Although it is possible to use the Ronin SC2 Gimbal with the Tilta Hydra, your mileage may vary.

Q: 4. Do I need to buy batteries for this to work?

A: In order to take full advantage of this device, yes, you need Gold Mount batteries.

Q: 5. I have the SmallRig Full Cage for Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K/4K. Can I use this and mount it underneath the smallrig cage?

A: This Tilta Battery Baseplate is designed specifically for the Tilta cage series and has 2 locking pins that may prevent mounting to another cage system. The Tilta cage TITAT01FCC https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1490081-REG/tilta_ta_t01_fcc_bmpcc4k_full_camera_cage.html would be most appropriate.

Q: 6. Can this work with a smallrig black mamba cage for the S5iix?

A: The Tilta Tiltaing V-Mount Battery Baseplate v2 would work best on a Tilta Cage. However, it would need to be tested on Smallrig cages. Smallrig offers a similar option listed below. SmallRig Compact V-Mount Battery Mounting System BH #SM4064

Q: 7. I'd like to run gold mount power to a remote FX6. Is there a DC extender cable that would work w this unit?

A: The Tilta Battery Plate for Sony FX6 Type II (Gold Mount) (B&H# TIST20BTP2AB) could be part of a solution to power a Sony FX6 even if it's not mounted within just a few inches of the camera. It features a female D tap port (14.4V) and if combined with a cable like the IndiPRO Tools Regulated D-Tap to DC Barrel Power Cable for Sony PXW-FX9 (36") (B&H# INDTSFX9) then you could position it up to a few feet away (about 0.9m): https://bhpho.to/33ZMffQ

Q: 8. Does a SWIT S-8152A 73 + 73Wh Split-Style Battery fit in?

A: No a SWIT S-8152A 73 + 73Wh Split-Style Battery fit in will NOT fit

Q: 9. What is the spacing on the rod mounts? can it be mounted to rods on a baseplate?

A: Battery Plate for Sony FX6 Type II mounts via 15mm LWS rods. If your baseplate uses 15mm rods, then it will be able to mount to it.

Q: 10. will this worked flipped around? I.e. with the rods on the bottom instead of above.

A: While it is possible to mount the Tilta Battery Plate for Sony FX6 Type II (Gold Mount) with the 15mm rods on the bottom, the DC plug would be on the wrong side of the camera and may not reach the DC input on the camera.
