Add instant side-chain compression to your DAW with the Sidekick Extended 6 Side-Chain Compressor Plug-In Software from BeatRig. Versatile and simple to use, the plug-in is compatible with virtually any DAW title that supports the VST2, AU, and AAX platforms.

Side-chain compression simply allows you to automatically control the volume of one track based on the volume of a different track. The effect is commonly used to send a kick drum to the side-chain input on a bass sound to provide a pumping low-end effect popular in modern dance and pop music production styles. The effect is quite versatile and lends itself to a wide variety of creative applications on instruments, vocals, reverb effects, and more.

In postproduction, side-chain compression allows you to route a voiceover or dialog track to control the level of a music bed or soundtrack—automatically lowering the music for clearer, more intelligible speech. Sidekick is simple to set up and provides intuitive routing controls, while adjustments are available on the Ducking, Attack, and Recovery settings, so you can tailor the sonic results to your needs. Finally, the Saturation slider lets you add some additional fatness with the sound of an overdriven tube effect.

I use this with the Acra-Swiss ballhead for both my 70-200mm f/2.8 and my 300mm f/2.8. It gives me the flexibility of a Gimbal head, and when I don't need it, I can simply use my ball-head.The only con is that this all adds up in weight, but then, the Gimbal head from Wimberley is heavy too.

I use the sidekick to support heavy and lighter lens/camera.After you have balanced the camera/lens it's a one hand operation to point and shoot turn loose till next shot. With the ball head alone you using two hands. I use wimberly plates and love the safety pins that keep lens from sliding off when adjusting the balance. It set sets up/takes down very quicklygoing from ball head to gimbal.nothing bad to say

well build and sturdy. fits Wimberley arca clamp perfectly. use it for mounting nikon 300mm f/2.8 on tripod with arca ball head. the weight of 300mm lens, teleconvertor, and camera is impossible for handheld and difficult to control on tripod. this device make it effortless in maneuvering the camera and lens on tripod for tracking moving objects.

I haven't used the Sidekick yet but should prove very handy in situations where I want to shoot landscape sunrises with a wide angle zoom lens using my Kirk ballhead then change to my 400mm tele drop the Sidekick into the quick release, mount the lens and shoot the morning birds taking flight.

The way to go if you need to use one tripod for both ball-head & gimbal work. This product enables you to switch between ball-head & gimba without removing the ball-head from the tripod. I use this product with Really Right Stuff BH-55 ball-head and B2 Pro II clamp. Choose a sturdy tripod for gimbal/big lens use.
