The 8x16 MXCore-UH Expandable HDMI Video Router over Cat5e/6 Matrix from Smart-AVI is an HDMI video router that features HDBaseT technology, which enables you to route 1080p HD video, multi-channel audio, Ethernet, IR, and power signals up to 425' away over a single CAT 5e/6 cable. This unit includes 2 input cards, and 4 output cards. Each card features 4 inputs/outputs respectively for a total matrix of 8 HDMI inputs to 16 RJ45 outputs. In order to convert the signals back to HDMI, an HDX-MX receiver is required (not included).
You can locally switch between sources via the front panel controls, or remotely via the RS-232, IR, or TCP/IP connections. The MXCore-UH can be controlled by Smart-AVI's Windows-based manager software. The front-panel LCD display and keypad allow you to determine which inputs are routed to which outputs. The RS-232 allows you to assign a unique name to each port on the Matrix along with a display for specific project requirements. The IR control interface allows you greater flexibility when managing the MXCore-UH from a distance. This can be used when the displays are not visible from the Matrix, which would require control via Infrared command signals.
The MXCore-UH features 8 inputs, each incorporating the SmartEDID programmable technology capable of learning video resolutions, audio settings and 3D data. The EDID memory of each display is stored in a single flash memory, designed to give you freedom to choose any EDID and emulation of any display. The MXCore-UH enables HDMI sources to continuously read the EDID of a monitor with full emulation at any given time. The EDID management allows learning and saving of up to 100 displays, including audio. The MXCore-UH can learn EDID from any display device provided.
SmartConrol is the Windows GUI application that enables users to control SmartAVI Matrix using graphic user interface without having to write the codes and send serial commands to the devices. The software allows configuration of the size and type of the Matrix, including a preset defined at macro. The software also enables identification by name for each source and display. The Net-IP-Pro gives the user full control of the Matrix from anywhere in the world through this web browser software. The Net-IP-Pro enables multiple users to control and configure the Matrix, including names of sources, names of displays, IP addresses and low level features of the Matrix. This Google based software enables the support of telnet for easy integration with other control systems.

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Is this device rack-mountable?
A: Yes, the Smart-AVI HDR-8X8-PLUS-S 4K 8x8 HDMI Matrix Switch with IR Remote is rack-mountable.
Q: 2. so example this will play blue-ray player with example 3 tv or 3 monitors hooked up in the input device and play it out of the 3 outputs I want to know before I buy if these are not splitters?
A: This Smart-AVI product is both a Video Wall Controller and a Matrix Switcher. A Matrix Switcher allows you to send any input to any output. This has 4 inputs and 4 outputs. You can set it to have 1 input go to all 4 outputs or every input to go to a different output.
Q: 3. Can you set any type of screen configuration, i.e., like a 1x4 screen set up or does it have to be 2x2. Can you get creative and set on screen up vertically and three horizontal and have one image across all 4?
A: This Smart-AVI is purely for 2x2. For 1x4 you'll need a controller like this: http://bhpho.to/1SIGky8
Q: 4. Can you have multiple transmitters on the same network and flip between sources?
A: There are no controls on the receiver so no way to flip between sources. The transmitters do multicast across the whole network so the best way to do what you want (with these boxes) would be to set up separate physical networks or create virtual LANs to separate the various transmitters. A receiver's port would need to be assigned to a particular VLAN to receive the signal from the transmitter on that VLAN.
Q: 5. Is there an HDMI version of this?
A: The XD44L does not have an HDMI interface. There are a few ways we could do this. If you found, and I'm not sure they exist, a HDMI/SFP transceiver you could use our MSC-FS44FL. You could use the MSC-FS44FL with separate Transmit and Receive module, but that would reduce your effective capacity to a 2x2. http://www.matrixswitchcorp.com/products/MSC-FS44FL/ An MSC-XDM1000L would do what you need, but might be a little overkill. This is a modular unit and could be configured to any I/O that you might need. http://www.matrixswitchcorp.com/products/MSC-XDM1000L/ Thank you for considering Matrix Switch Corp. Let us know how we can help you further.
Q: 6. Can the RS-232 control and infrared control be used at the same time? I have experienced matrix switches where you start entering your from and to with infrared, and when a command comes in on RS232 it resets the infrared command and you have to start over.
A: The RS-232 and the IR can be controlled at the same time on the HDR-8x8-Plus.
Q: 7. Does this unit come with the receivers? It doesn't appear that separate receivers are available for sale on this site.
A: According to Avinair's owner Dracast, they have removed all Avinair tranceivers transmitters and receivers from B&H's and their own website. They are not available at this time. As a substitute, we wish to recommend for you the A-Neuvideo 4x4 HDMI & HDBaseT Matrix Switcher.
Q: 8. Can I have the model number of the correct receiver to pair 3 more TV's to this unit ?
A: The Ocean Matrix HDMI Over IP Extender / Converter (BH # OCOMXHDMI2IP) will use this receiver: Ocean Matrix OMX-HDMI-2-IP-R HDMI over IP Extender Receiver (B&H # OCOMXHDMIIPR) 1080p HDMI Signal Extender Transmits up to 393' with Cat 6 Cable HDCP Compliant Takes Advantage of Existing Wiring Supports Multichannel Audio
Q: 9. This states that it has a fixed IP address. So would this work to a convert an HDMI video single to an addressable IP source that could be input to a Tricaster 410 IP connection directly, and then used as one of the two network sources?
A: No, you would convert HDMI to SDI and run the SDI cable to go to the TC410; Ocean Matrix does make that as well; you can bridge production and security systems this way as well--AL
Q: 10. Do both (transmitter and receiver) need power ? or ONLY one of them?
A: Yes, both the transmitter and receiver will need to be powered. It will come with 2 AC power supplies.
