Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it output both SDI and HDMI simultaneously?

A: Yes it does.

Q: 2. Will this encoder pass DCI 4K60p?

A: The AVerMedia Live Streamer CAP 4K HDMI to USB 3.1 Gen 1 Video Converter will take UHD 4K at 60FPS. It will not take DCI 4K at 60FPS.

Q: 3. Can you use this to record from a DSLR?

A: The Avermedia Live Streamer CAP 4K HDMI to USB 3.1 Gen 1 Video Converter can be used to capture video for use for a livestream, or could be used to record with use of software.

Q: 4. What type of cable is recommended to send the SDI?

A: Hi Michael, This is Jules from product support at Symbiosis, Decimator's master distributor in the US. Any good quality SDI cable with full size BNC connectors will be fine for carrying the SDI signal as long as it's rated for the combination of format and distance you need, most of the quality cable manufacturers have tables available that show the maximum distance each cable will reliably carry the format you are intending to use. B&H stock a great selection of cables and their experts are really knowledgable (as well as friendly!) so I'm sure they will help you choose a suitable one if you can let them know the format you are sending (for example: 720p25, 1080p60) and also the length of cable you need. I hope this helps... Jules

Q: 5. How do you scale a signal for example 1080 60p to 60i?

A: This is a cross converter and will not scale images.

Q: 6. Is this converter or others able to convert the 10-Bit 1080i SDI signal from a camera into a 8-Bit 1080i HDMI signal for older monitors that cannot handle 10-bit?

A: Works with 49 LG 4K TV, at least with Blackmagic Production 4K set to 30.00 fps, TV shows 2160p 30HZ .

Q: 7. I want to place this between a computer and projector looping through a Blackmagic ATEM. HDMI (Computer) - SDI (ATEM) - SDI (ATEM-AUX) - HDMI (Projector). The question is what happens if the ATEM is off. Will this automatically switch the projector to the Computer HDMI (Computer) - HDMI (Projector)?

A: As we see it, the outputs are always active so you should be good to go.

Q: 8. How far can I send the SDI signal ? I need to send an HD signal with audio to a conference room and then decode again to a video projector. Any suggestions on the cheapest way to do this with reliability?

A: This totally depends on your cable. We use Canare RG59 HD-SDI coax cable and our longest run is about 200 feet. I use these Blackmagic design boxes in different parts of the building and they work great. There was one that I had to update the firmware, but that was very easy. These are great, reliable products.

Q: 9. Does this convert the audio from the SDI as well, and does it sync properly, I want to use this to convert my main out from a Blackmagic ATEM TV Studio HD Switcher?

A: Carson,Yes this converter will pass the audio from the SDI input to the HDMI output and the 1/4 phone jacks. Yes it syncs properly. We use a number of these in our studio and in the field with no issues. Make sure your connections are secure and you should have no issues.DJ Video

Q: 10. Does it record? What media will it record to?

A: The AVerMedia Live Streamer CAP 4K HDMI to USB 3.1 Gen 1 Video Converter does not record on its own. However, if you connect the USB output to a computer you could use OBS software to record the output of the AVerMedia Live Streamer CAP 4K. OBS Software: https://bit.ly/41Y4tqT
