The HDX-LX-TX HDMI and IR Transmitter from Smart-AVI uses a single CAT5 UTP cable to extend HDMI output to up to 250' (76m) from the source using HDBaseT technology when paird with the HDX-LX-RX Receiver. It is capable of transmitting uncompressed HD video up to 1080p (60 Hz @ 48-bit, and 3D) at up to 3.4 Gb/s. It also supports transmitting Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA audio signals.

The transmitter is HDMI 1.3 / HDCP compliant, and supports bi-directional IR extension that simplifies controlling the video source. It is suitable for applications such as home theater, corporate / educational presentations, call centers, isolated industrial workstations, information terminals / kiosk, airport installations (air traffic control / passenger information), and educational environments that require remote displays.

Q: 4. Will this Smart-AVI V2V-HDAV HDMI TO Composite RCA Downscaler output 240p?

A: The Smart-AVI V2V-HDAV HDMI to Composite RCA Downscale with HDMI Loop Output supports up to 60hz. It would not be able to output 240p.

Q: 5. is the extender IP based? is it able to be fed through a switch in its own VLAN? or does it have to be a direct connection on both ends?

A: My assumption is that it would need to be a direct connection. I have not tried it on a vlan. Based on the information on their site, it would need to be directly connected, as it seems to encode the signal and send it over the copper to be decoded at the other end by the receiver.

Q: 6. Can this control CRMX lights like the Aputure MC Pro, or can it only be used to link to the TimoLink RX Wireless DMX Receiver?

Q: 7. Can the RS-232 control and infrared control be used at the same time? I have experienced matrix switches where you start entering your from and to with infrared, and when a command comes in on RS232 it resets the infrared command and you have to start over.

Q: 10. Is the 4th hdmi a true video port? I have one sun that needs to keep it's keyboard, but video would be fine switched though kvm

For my small production setup the MOTU HDX-SDI has proved a winner. The ability to ingest all forms of SD and HD make it very flexible. Great for conversion to or upgrading to an HD workflow. I purchased an additional Express 34 card for use with my MacBook Pro to further enhance the flexibility. Capturing multiple channels of audio is a big plus for me as I sometimes have outboard audio processing and other synchronized audio sources that I normally would have to capture separately. Saves having to sync them later as well. The one ability that it lacks is conversion between formats (SD-HD or HD-SD). The output format matches the input format. Then again at this price point I can't really call it a complaint. 5

It does what is says. I love the device and really wish I could afford more. It is small and solid. Unfortunately it does not have a ProRes chip in it so the encoding is all done by the computer. Just in case anyone is confused like I was, this unit will not do any stand-alone conversions between SDI and component or the like in the manner that the V4HD does. The V4HD is one of a kind and superior product in all respects to this and the IO HD. 5

Bought as second transmitter to use with Rode wireless ME set. Works as it should. Use Rode Central to pair two transmitters with single receiver. See manual. 5
