Offering an impressively versatile range with a portable form factor, the Sigma SA-mount 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM from Sigma is a Contemporary-series telephoto zoom characterized by its sophisticated optics and flexible handling. One FLD element and three SLD elements are used to reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations throughout the zoom range and a Super Multi-Coating also helps to suppress flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color accuracy when working in strong lighting conditions.

Balancing the optical design, this lens also features a Hyper Sonic Motor, which provides especially fast and quiet autofocus performance as well as full-time manual focus override. An Optical Stabilizer also works to minimize the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting. Additionally, a removable, rotating tripod collar is included to suit working atop a tripod or monopod.

As part of the Contemporary line within Sigma's Global Vision series, this lens is designed to achieve a balance between convenience and performance, and meshes a compact, lightweight build and versatile handling with notable optical attributes.

Telephoto zoom is designed for Sigma SA-mount cameras, and when used with APS-C models it provides a 225-900mm equivalent focal length range.

One F Low Dispersion (FLD) and three Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements are featured in the optical design and help to reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for improved clarity and color accuracy.

A Super Multi-Layer Coating has been applied to lens elements in order to minimize lens flare and ghosting and contribute to producing contrast-rich and color-neutral imagery, even in backlit conditions.

Integrated HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), along with a rear focus system, realizes quick and quiet autofocus, which is further complemented by an optimized AF algorithm to produce smoother focusing performance. The HSM also permits full-time manual focus control simply by rotating the focus ring at any time.

Optical Stabilizer system minimizes the appearance of camera shake to benefit making sharper imagery when shooting handheld.

Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.

Dust- and splash-resistant design suits this lens's use in inclement weather conditions and a water- and oil-repellent coating has also been applied to the front element to aid in cleaning.

Constructed using a Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) material for greater precision and use in wide temperature variations. Additionally, a brass bayonet affords improved mounting accuracy and rigidity.

Zoom lock switch can be activated at any focal length to prevent accidental and unwanted zoom adjustment.

Compatible with optional Sigma TC-1401 1.4x and TC-2001 2x teleconverters.

A removable, rotating tripod collar offers well-balanced support for photographing atop a tripod or monopod with either vertical or horizontal shooting orientations.

This lens is compatible with the optional Sigma USB Dock for fine-tuning different lens characteristics and updating its firmware.

Q: 3. Can it be uses with the Canon EF 1.4 Extender III?

Q: 4. Does the bird eye AF work with the Nikon Z8?

Q: 6. Anyone have any thoughts on using this on Panasonic G9 micro 4/3 using metabone adapter?

Q: 7. How does it compare to the Tamron 150 - 600 G2?

A: The Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 lens is generally considered to be sharper, but more expensive than this Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary lens. Otherwise, the both give you the same zoom range and same minimum aperture range, so the difference is the glass and price.

Q: 8. Is this compatible with the Nikon D7100?

A: Yes it is compatible. Unfortunately the tele converter only works with the sigma lense. They did not design it to work with other Nikon lenses. A real disappointment. When considering weight in a camera bag, it is one of the first pieces to be left behind. The lense itself is amazing.

Q: 10. Will this lens work with my old Canon EOS T3i?

PURCHASED THIS 30 DAYS AGO AND WHAT A LENS FANTASTIC CLARITY, FAST FOCUS IN AF MODE, AND A REAL PLEASURE TO USE. DID ALLOT OF RESEARCH PRIOR TO SUBMITTING MY ORDER BUT GLAD I DID. 150 TO 600 GETS JUST ABOUT ANYTHING OUT THERE IN TEH WILD FOR SURE. SIGMA DID A GREAT JOB IN THE BUILD AND ENGINEERING OF THIS LENS JUST A NOTE - MAKE SURE YOUR TRIPOD CAN HANDLE AT LEAST 10 PLUS POUNDS - DO NOT USE A CHEEZY $DOLLAR TRIPOD WITH THIS BABY..

I am a pro photographer and co-owner of a production company and I have to say this lens is amazing for the price. We have used this on our canon 5d mark iii and have gotten amazing images. We also have used this on our Blackmagic Ursa Mini 4k Cinema camera and have gotten great results. I would highly recommend this lens to add to your arsenal.

As a wildlife photographer, this les is getting me closer to the action. I have a Canon 100-400 and had a 50-500 but this one gets into the face of animals.

It was not as heavy as I thought it would be. Haven't been in field with it but doing what I need so far with good results.

I'm a wildlife photographer with 6 years experience, my specialty being birds in flight. I had a Sigma 150-600mm Sport lens that was just too heavy for me. I'm finding that I'm getting a higher percentage of sharp focus photos with the 150-600mm Contemporary lens as well as the much lighter weight. I'm very happy with the photos I'm getting with this lens.

This lens is perfect for what I wanted. I shoot a lot of birds and wildlife down here in Florida. I was looking for something that would get me closer without having the need for me to get physically closer. This is it. I think the lens is very sharp, fast enough and produces very vivid photos. I'm not a professional so I can't speak to all the technical points of the lens but it does what I was looking for and that's good enough for me. It does have a bit of weight but you can always use a tripod. I prefer to hand hold and I do shake a bit but when shooting at higher speeds it's not a problem. I love the results this lens is giving me. I rented the Tamron version but decided to buy the Sigma version because of all I read about it. I'm glad I did. I actually prefer the sigma results to the Tamron. I would recommend this lens.
