Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would this unit be compatible with my Alien B B1600 strobes?

A: The PocketWizard Plus X is compatible with the Alien B B1600 strobes, yes.

Q: 2. I have a Nikon D3200 and SB700 speedlight. I am new to remote triggers. So basically I am asking, do I just attached this to the camera and then the SB700 is automatically triggered? Or do I need to attach something to flash?Does this support TTL, or will the flash have to be in manual mode?

A: To use the PocketWizard PlusX Transceiver to trigger the Nikon SB-700 Speedlight Flash off-camera, you would need two (2) PlusX Transceivers; one on the D3200 camera as a transmitter, and one connected to the SB-700 (via the PocketWizard HSFM3 Flash Sync Cable (3'), B&H # WIHSFM3) as a receiver. The PlusX Transceiver is not capable of automatic i-TTL flash exposure. As such, you would have to set the output power on the flash manually.

Q: 3. I have canon 550ex. will plus x2 work and what kind of cables and adapters do I need ?

A: You would connect one PlusX to the hot shoe of your camera, and connect the second PlusX to your Canon 550EX Speedlite Flash via the PocketWizard HSFM3 Flash Sync Cable (3'), B&H # WIHSFM3. With this setup, when both units are on the same channel, you press the shutter button on your camera and it would wirelessly trigger your speedlite.

Q: 4. can I use with a pocketwizard plus2 ???

A: Yes, the Plus 2 is fully compatible with the Plus X.

Q: 5. can these works with a canon t2i and a nikon d5300?

A: The PocketWixard PlusX transceivers are not brand/camera specific. They would be compatible with the Canon T2i and the Nikon D5300. Though, if you are looking to use them as a remote shutter release, you would need to purchase a camera specific cable.

Q: 6. Are these compatible with the Canon EOS Rebel T5i DSLR Camera?

A: Yes, the PocketWizard PocketWizard PlusX 2 Pack is compatible for use with the Canon EOS Digital Rebel T5i DSLR camera. However, depending on which flash you own, or what/how you are trying to remotely trigger your setup, you may need extra cables or accessories to connect the items for your usage. As a trigger, the PlusX would simply connect to the camera's hot shoe, then the second PlusX connected to the off-camera strobe. To use the kit to trigger the camera wirelessly, you would need a motor trigger cable for the camera. You can contact us as askbh@bhphotovideo.com and state what gear you own and how you wish to trigger your system and we can help you with any questions in regards to your setup.

Q: 7. Will the Pocket Wizard work with a Yongnuo YN560-III without getting two transceivers? The YN560-III has wireless transmitter capabilities but I wasn't sure if these were compatible with that or not.

A: No. The receiver is compatible only with the RF-603 or RF-602 transmitters.

Q: 8. will this work well with the Canon 5D MKII and the 580EX speedlight? are any other accessories needed?

A: The Plus X will work with that equipment but keep in mind you need two pieces (one for your camera and one for your flash). If you have the 580EX II then the cable you will need to connect to the PocketWizard is included. If you have the first 580EX, you would need to purchase a cable separately. See the link below for that cable:http://bhpho.to/1fijrYT

Q: 9. will this work with the YN685 speed lights?

A: You should be able to use the flash in manual mode, up to X-sync, with your camera. You'll need a PocketWizard on the camera as a transmitter and a PocketWizard connected to the flash via the PC port. A PC to miniphone cable is included with the PlusX single or double packs.

Q: 10. I am considering four of these to support my Bolt flash set and my Canon 5D Mark III. I'm getting conflicting reports from the web - maybe you can clear up.Is the Pocket Wizard Plus X compatible with the Mark III?Is it compatible with the TTL metering? How about ABC lighting control on camera?I want one on my 5D Mark III, one on my Bolt VX-760C and one on each of my 2 VS-510C's. Will I be able to use on camera settings to switch from AB to ABC lighting and have lighting control?

A: The only PocketWizard remotes that use PocketWizard's ControlTL system to transmit TTL information is the PocketWizard FlexTT5 and MiniTT1 remotes. The PocketWizard Plus X is not a ControlTL unit and will not transmit TTL information; the flash output power would have to be set manually when using the Plus X Transceiver. As output power must be set manually, you cannot set AB or ABC ratios with the remote.
