Moza Np10 Shotgun Microphone
- Product Code: ga208565

Thanks to its non-reflective black finish, low self-noise, and sharp directivity, the Moza NP10 shotgun microphone offers location sound recordists, boom operators, and indie film/TV videographers strong audio performance and a look that won't disrupt the shot. Sonically, the NP10 delivers smooth and natural tonality without producing excessive hiss or requiring extreme gain at the mic preamp.
Considering that signal interference such as EMI and RFI are impeded by the CNC-machined brass housing, and that the included windscreen reduces undesired wind noise caused by breezes and nearby fans, the NP10 is capable of yielding clean, pro-level sound. The mic's condenser capsule and interference tube result in a highly directional response that significantly lessens the amount of background noise, especially in comparison to omnidirectional and bidirectional polar patterns.
For Indie Films, TV & Documentaries High Sensitivity Requires Less Gain Phantom Powered Simple Operation with No Controls Smooth, Natural Frequency Response Low Noise Floor Windscreen Reduces Wind Noise Brass Housing Inhibits Interference Non-Reflective Black Finish Includes Mic Clip

This supercardioid microphone has an acoustic design that uses an interference tube to produce directionality that is more focused than other common polar patterns such as omnidirectional and cardioid. The microphone effectively attenuates off-axis sound, meaning it captures clean sound directly in front of the mic while reducing sound pickup from the sides and the rear.
The NP10 accurately and naturally picks up all audible sound within the human hearing range of 40 Hz to 16 kHz. Its frequency response curve helps achieve intelligible sound without problematic extreme lows and highs.
With an ultralow noise floor of 12 dB (A-weighted) and a signal-to-noise ratio of 70 dB, all signals can be transmitted and restored to the maximum volume while reducing background noise.
The NP10 has a high-quality, CNC-machined brass metal tube body, ensuring a solid structure and high anti-interference performance. The black tube body makes it ideal for formal occasions and video production as it does not reflect light.
The universal gold-plated XLR 3-pin male connector has excellent signal transmission stability and anti-interference qualities. Connect the NP10 to a microphone preamp that can send 48V phantom power, such as the XLR input on a camcorder, mixer, or dedicated mic pre.
Since there are no dials, buttons, or switches on the NP10, it is easy to use and fast to set up.
The NP10 comes with a mic clip for attachment to a mic stand or boompole, and a foam windscreen for reduction of noise from light breezes. Compatible shockmounts and furry windshields are available separately to make the NP10 ready for demanding location work.
Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Would this mic work with my Sony adapter for my A7s? It has an xlr in??
A: The NTG4+ will work with an XLR adapter that is able to provide 48 volts phantom power to the mic.
Q: 2. Can this microphone be used with a AA battery for source of power also?
A: The NTG-1 does not feature battery power capability, however the NTG-2 is the same mic with the addition of the AA battery compartment.
Q: 3. I'm new to shotgun microphones and need some info. What are the scenarios(preferably with examples) where I'd need to absolutely use the battery power of NTG4+? My camera is Sony a7II and recorder would be Zoom H5. The shotgun will mostly be used in a boom setup but it'd be nice to use it on-camera sometimes. I understand that NTG4+ has both Phantom and battery power. Is there are reason to pick the NTG4+ over the NTG4, in my scenario? Is there any advantages/disadvantages of using battery power over phantom power or vice versa?
A: The only time you would require the battery power of the NTG4+ is if you did not have access to phantom power. Powering via phantom power is usually preferred by most as it is one less battery to worry about. Also, there may be some coloration to the tonal characteristics of the NTG4+ microphone as the battery depletes, where as the NTG4 is receiving constant power thru another source; in your case the Zoom H5. Keep in mind if you are powering the microphone with phantom power by way of the Zoom H5, the battery time usage on the recorder will be affected.
Q: 4. I know that technically shotgun mics are meant for outdoor use, but does anyone have any experience with how well or poorly the rode ntg4 does inside, as in have you used it on your production indoor with satisfying enough results?
A: We bought ours primarily for indoor use and have been very satisfied with the results. We have a loud HVAC unit and the built in filter on the mic took away that sound and kept great clarity.
Q: 5. Will this microphone work via AA battery and +48 if the internal battery has already died?
A: The NTG4+ does not operate on AA battery power. It features an internal rechargeable battery for power or can utilize phantom power.
Q: 6. When do you expect to ship these?
A: The Rode NTG4+ is currently available and shipping.
Q: 7. 1) Can i connect NTG4+ to my rodelink filmmaker wireless transmitter?2) When connected directly to a sony a7r3 camera, will it sound good? or Preamp/external recorder is a must?
A: The 4+ supplies its own power, so if the rodelink receiver is plugged into the camera, plugging the mic directly into the camera will make absolutely no difference. The only benefit of using the transmitter would be to get the mic closer to the audio source. But that doesn't seem to apply here.
Q: 8. What is the difference between NTG 1 and NTG 2
A: I have both. The NTG2 uses a AA battery. Ive seen specs that claim there is a tiny bit of difference in performance but it depends on your size restrictions and phantom power requirements. The NTG1 is great on most of my cams and in podcasts where the space might be an issue and upplying power to it isnt a problem. Recently I started.using a Tascam 70D the power drain is so bad on it I will often switch to the NTG2 to save battery on the mixer/recorder.
Q: 9. I have a Panasonic AG-UX180 professional camcorder. It has XLR input. I use this camera to record RC Airplane flight. Even though shotgun mics are designed for close-up audio, will this shotgun also work for distance airplane sound? If not, please recommend something in a similar price range that would work better. THANKS!
A: You would be better off with a longer shotgun mic for recording anything at a distance. The narrower audio spectrum highly increases the directional capability, therefore, decreasing unwanted peripheral sounds. In the low price range, you could consider the Audio Technica AT8015 US$299.00.
Q: 10. There appear to be three settings for the high-pass filter: the switch can be positioned towards the front of the mic (bent line symbol), in the middle (straight line symbol), or towards the back of the mic (circle symbol). I gather the bent line represents "hi-pass filter on", the straight line "hi-pass filter off", but what does the circle setting do?
A: The circle setting turns the mic off.
