If you have a professional production or outdoor environment that requires remotely controlled cameras with minimal crew and a high-resolution output, the titanium white CR-X300 Outdoor 4K PTZ Camera with 20x Zoom from Canon will fit right into your house of worship, corporate conference room, government application, courtroom, broadcast streaming production, event space, or even add an extra camera to your documentary shoot. With its weather-resistant exterior paint, durable aluminum body, interior fan, IP65 waterproof rating, and built-in lens wiper, it can also be used for outdoor surveillance and security.

The CR-X300 sports many features of a Canon camcorder such as a 1/2.3" dual-pixel CMOS sensor, Hybrid AF, the Canon DIG!C DV6 image processor, scene modes, IR (infrared) mode, 20x optical zoom, 20x digital zoom, built-in waterproof microphone, and video capture and output up to UHD 4K. The camera also includes NDI|HX support without requiring a separate license, allowing you to drop the camera into your existing NDI network with minimal configuration.

Where the PTZ camera diverges from the camcorders is in its remote resources such as control via IP and RS-422 serial as well as HDMI, 6G-SDI, and IP streaming outputs, and compatibility with the Canon RC-IP100 IP PTZ remote controller. It can perform smooth, precision pan, tilt, and zoom movements with a speed range of 0.3 to 60° per second.

The camera can also be powered using PoE++ (Power-over-Ethernet) using its LAN port, so it can fit right into your existing PoE+ network without requiring the use of local power to save cabling. The camera supports a wide dynamic range, minimum illumination of 3 lux, and its lens features a 35mm equivalent focal length of 30.5 to 627mm.

The camera can utilize an external controller via RS-422/VISCA or Canon's proprietary XC IP protocol on a private, secure LAN, using the optional RC-IP100 PTZ controller. Or, if you'd prefer to use Canon's camera control software, the free-to-download application can work on Windows OS, so you can control all the camera functions from a laptop or tablet. The software provides a 9x9 live view, control of up to 100 cameras, settings loading and configuration, and tally functions.

For incredibly sharp and detailed high-definition video recording, the CR-X300 features a 1/2.3-inch, approximately effective 8.29MP UHD 4K CMOS Pro Image Sensor that captures 3840 x 2160 pixels. Thanks to the sensor's high sensitivity, the CR-X300 helps provide vivid, accurate video through an excellent signal-to-noise ratio.

Get improved picture quality for both UHD 4K video and Full HD with the oversampled HD processing, along with Canon's autofocus logic.

6D-SDI and HDMI terminals allow for output that supports integration into professional workflows, making it particularly useful for broadcast applications. The 6G-SDI and HDMI outputs provide an uncompressed signal at 3840 x 2160 or 1920 x 1080 resolution with 4:2:2 color sampling and 10-bit color depth, perfect for demanding television broadcast applications.

The CR-X300 is equipped with "Hybrid AF". Hybrid AF is an autofocus system that combines high-precision contrast AF technology and the high-speed phase-difference AF technology to confirm auto focus from the camera. This hybrid autofocus system achieves auto focus faster and more reliably compared to contrast auto focus alone. The CR-X300 features Face Detection and Tracking functions which detects faces and automatically adjusts focus when a human is detected within the frame.

Full HD image quality from our CR-X300 is now even better thanks to oversampling HD processing, which enables Full HD by effectively utilizing the outstanding capabilities of the UHD 4K CMOS sensor.

There are four types of scene modes: Portrait mode, which exhibits a blurred background while subject is in sharp focus, Sports mode, which enhances capture of moving objects, Low Light mode, which enhances capture of bright images even in dark places, and Spotlight mode, which enhances capture of beautiful images of spotlighted objects.

The CR-X300 features an Infrared Mode allowing the capture of video in conditions with little to no ambient light. This feature allows low-light capture by removing the infrared cutoff filter from the optical path. The camera's specially designed lens coating allows the infrared light to pass through to the image sensor.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have an ALTA PRO 263AB 100 Tripod. I am looking for a Arca swiss type compatible ball head for my L-bracket. Would this one be compatible?

A: Yes. The K-20x mounts very easily on the Alta Pro. You might need an 1/4"-20 to 3/8"-16 Screw Adapter (BH #SM1610) in case you don't have the one that came with the Alta Pro, as the tripod's camera mounting screw is a 1/4"-20 male, whereas the K-20X's base mount is 3/8"-16 female.

Q: 2. Will this work with old gen consoles like ps2 or ps3?

A: The Pengo Technology 4K HDMI to USB 3.0 Video Grabber (Titanium Gray) may not work with older generation consoles such as the PS2 or PS3 if they output an interlaced signal. An RCA to HDMI adapter would also be necessary for connecting the PS2 as well.

Q: 3. Is this usable with an HDMI switcher for HD video cameras?

A: It can be fed the program out from a switcher for capture.

Q: 4. Are DSLR's compatible with the required 4:4:4 sampling (specifically the Canon 7D2's HDMI output)?

A: You shouldn't have any issues with that camera.

Q: 5. is this something that can help use my GH5 as a webcam on ZOOM?

A: Yes, you will see this device come up in your video settings on zoom

Q: 6. If I want to stream to cameras simultaneously would it work if I plugged two of these adapters into my computer?

A: Yes, as long as your computer has enough processing power and the program you are using, supports two simultaneous inputs.

Q: 7. What type of cable are people using to connect to USB C on macbook pro? I bought an Anker USB C to USB 3.0 and it's not working.

A: As others said, you can use the included cable to get this up and running.

Q: 8. How is the heat with this? Should I add a heat sink on top? I'm only planning to capture in 1080p, not 4k.

A: A heat sink is not required.

Q: 9. Will this work with an iPhone 12 feeding it HDMI?

A: No, it's not compatible. OS Compatibility: Windows 8.1 Windows 10 Linux 2.6.38 or Later macOS 10.13 or Later

Q: 10. This appears to have a type A usb connector. Is this correct? That means it uses a type A to type A cable? Really?

A: Yes, this as a Type A USB.
