Q: 1. Will a battery grip get in the way of the ballhead/sidekick when the lens/camera is pointed up?

A: My battery grip hits the ball head...and at not too sharp an angle up. The solution in the instructions involves tilting the Sidekick from it's standard orientation= vertical, by loosening the main ballhead. Not the panning knob, but the main ballhead. And then simple tilt the Sidekick towards you if you want to shoot up more (higher elevation), or away from you if you want to shoot down. Lock the ballhead down once you have the elevation where you want it. Doing this you can shoot point up as much as you want...of course, you won't be able to shoot down now unless you readjust the ballhead to return the sidekick to vertical or even past vertical to shoot down at a steep angle. None of this changes the total range of motion between up and down. It changes where that range is expressed. Normal up and down with the sidekick vertical, mostly up with the sidekick leaning towards you, or mostly down with the sidekick leaning away from you. In all 3 of these orientations, the ball head quick release joint is sitting at the bottom of the cut out "U". You don't lift it off the bottom to tilt the sidekick...just to be clear. Loosen the ballhead and you could spin the sidekick upside down while the quick release of the ballhead stayed at the bottom of the "U".

Q: 2. Will this system work with my KIRK BH-3 ball head....and my canon 500 f4 L lens..? also what plate do I need on the lens .. a P 40 or P 50 quick release plate?

A: I have used it on a Gitzo tripod with a Canon 600mm f4 and it was fine. I would not recommend carrying this combo on the shoulder as an assembly however.

Q: 3. should I level the tripod before balancing the gimbal? I have this question because I am going to use SK-100 with a ball head on top of the skyguider pro. Thus, there is always an angle and the sk-100-ballhead combo cannot be leveled all time. Not sure in this case will a gimble is still usable.

A: Yes, always level the tripod.

Q: 4. Will this work with an Oben BE-117T ball head?

A: It will work but I would recommend a head with a higher load capacity like the Oben BC139. You can click on the link below to view; https://bhpho.to/2VxQusi

Q: 5. Will the Sidekick support a Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sport lens (7 pounds) on a Canon 5DM3?

A: I use the sidekick with a 500mm f4 Nikon lens with a D300 body, and it handles it very well. The secret to smooth operation is to get the camera lens combination balanced so that you can easily move to recompose or track a subject. I am very happy with this product. One thing to keep in mind with a zoom lens, if the physical length of the lens changes with focusing, it can change the balance of the lens/camera combination on the sidekick. This is easily corrected by adjusting it slightly in the quick release mount.

Q: 6. HI, I have Manfrotto MK190XPRO4-BHQ2 Aluminum, do i need to buy additional accessories so that i can attach this wimberly gimbal in tripod ball head?

A: You will need Arca compatible head

Q: 7. can you recommend an Induro ball head that will properly work with this? I'm buying the Induro CLT 404L tripod also.

A: I use the Arca sidekick with an induro BHL3 ballhead on a CT 404 tripod. Very sturdy combination. I would highly recommend

Q: 8. Can I add the sidekick to a Mefoto globetrotter and if so what other items do I need to purchase to make it functional? Thanks...

A: If your lens has a lens collar or tripod mount, then yes, the Wimberley Arca Sidekick Ball to Gimbal Head Adapter and the MeFOTO GlobeTrotter Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod would be compatible for your usage needs. The Wimberley Arca Sidekick Ball to Gimbal Head Adapte connects directly to the Arca-type clamp on the ball head on the top of the MeFOTO GlobeTrotter Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod. No other accessory is needed; you simply remove the quick release plate included with the tripod's ball head and conect the Wimberlay Gimbal Head Adapter. You would place the ball head at the 90° vertical shooting positon to mount the Wimberly Gimbal Head Adapter, and you would then have freedom of movement with your camera/lens combination mounted on the above tripod/gimbal head combination.

Q: 9. I have a Nikon z6ii and Nikon 500m PF. Will the sidekick work with this combo? I saw in the instructions that smaller lenses/cameras may not work

A: Yes the Nikon Z6 II equipped with the Nikon FTZ adapter and the Nikon AF-S 500mm PF lens can be used on the SK100.

Q: 10. Can I use the sidekick with an Acratech ball head?

A: Yes, Acratech uses an Arca type clamp and so it is compatible.
