B+w 830/093 Ir Black Red Filter (40.5mm)
- Product Code: ga209980

This 40.5mm IR Black Red MRC Basic Filter #830/093 from B+W is a full intensity infrared filter that blocks the complete visible light spectrum, enabling image recording of the pure IR light range without visible red. The black and white contrasts are higher than those produced by dark-red IR filters.
The filter is made of precision German optical glass, each side featuring seven layers of Broadband coating for high contrast pictures with minimal residual reflection and uniform light transmission. The brass filter ring features an enhanced knurling pattern for improved grip and a special functional coating for smooth mounting and dismounting. The ring features front threads, and its low-profile design makes it suitable for use with wide-angle lenses.

Q: 1. Will the "commander" function on the Canon EOS Rebel SL3?
A: This unit is not compatible with a SL3.
Q: 2. Does it work with Canon Speedlite 550EX Flash?
A: YES, works with 530EX II and 430 EX II flashes
Q: 3. Can each group (A, B, C) be independently set to different channels? Example: Group A to Channel 4, and Group B to Channel 2 at the same time.
A: You may set the desired group and the channel individually on the Nikon wireless infrared i-TTL flash(es) you own. Each flash does not have to be on the same group/channel. However, while you may also set different groups and channels on the Vello FWIRC-N FreeWave IR TTL Flash Commander for Nikon, you may only use one channel at a time on the Commander. As such, regardless of their group setting, if the off-camera flashes are not set to the channel actively set on the Vello FWIRC-N FreeWave IR TTL Flash Commander, then they will not fire.
Q: 4. Will it work with the Canon 430EX speedlite? The model before EX II.
A: Yes it does
Q: 5. Is this compatible with the Pentax K-3?
A: Yes, it is compatible with the K3.
Q: 6. Are the instructions in English?
A: Yes the instructions are in English https://bhpho.to/2W5MFsC.
Q: 7. Does this work with a very old Canon 420EX ?
A: I use it to trigger the 550EX and the 420Ex.
Q: 8. Is there any point in getting this for my Nikon D810? I understand the D810 has commander mode built in, but I am looking for a method to create a stronger infrared signal to read my off camera Speedlights.
A: I don't know if this will get you better range than the built in commander mode, but it does offer other advantages. First, I believe the built in commander uses the pop-up flash to signal the off-camera flashes. Even if you have it set to not contribute to the exposure, it will still probably add noticeable light in some scenarios. The pop-up flash can also cause people to blink. This avoids all of that. You could tape a piece of IR plastic over your pop-up, but this is definitely more professional looking. Last, the UI on this makes it very convenient to make setting changes. Especially if you are not using i-TTL, the UI on this makes it easy to adjust the flash power of each group without having to go through the camera menu. The downside of this is that you have to attach something to your camera while built in commander is, well... built in. In short, I don't know if this will get you better range, but it offers other advantages and conveniences. This does have better range than the Nikon SU-800, and also has a more compact shape. Whether those conveniences are worth the price is a matter of opinion. I got this because my camera body doesn't have built in commander. If my next camera body has built in commander, I will probably still use this. I typically just leave this attached anyway since I don't put my flashes on-camera very often. I am just an amateur, so my use cases differ greatly from a professional.
Q: 9. I have a canon flash 600 would this work on it
A: Yes this flash commander can fire a Canon 600EX RT in optical slave mode.
Q: 10. Is there any way to adapt this to the Sony A7R3 to be able to trigger the Nikon SB200 macro flashes?
A: Unfortunately there is not a way to adapt this for use with Sony multiinterface shoes.
