The 24” 3RR-14U24-25B 14U Removable Shock Rack and Transport Case from SKB is lightweight, shockproof, watertight, dustproof, heat, and chemical resistant, suitable for protecting and transporting your sensitive electronic equipment. The interior of the case features a removable rack with a positive lock latching system that slides open like a file drawer, allowing full access to racked equipment.

Molded of LMDP (Linear Medium Density Polyethylene) plastic that meets or exceeds MIL-STD 810G standards, this case includes 8 elastomeric shock absorbers which allow a standard payload range of 40 to 150lb. An extended payload range (sold separately) of 160 to 300lb can be accommodated as a special order option, or field installed to a standard case by the customer.

This 3RR Removable Rack is 24” deep from rail to rail with a standard 19” rack width per ANSI/EIA-310-C specification and features square-hole rack rails to accommodate either #10-32 US standard, or 6mm international standard cage nuts, which are supplied with the case.

The rugged roto-molded shell ensures industry leading strength and impact resistance. The standard COTS (Commercial off the Shelf) case comes with a 2” deep front lid and a 5” deep rear lid to accommodate rack gear that is longer than 24”, and edge casters to allow convenient case transport. Molded-in stacking ribs and lugs are designed to stack with competitive manufacturers’ cases. Black powder coated stainless steel hardware is recessed for protection, as well as 8 comfort grip spring loaded lift handles allow for easy movement. An automatic pressure relief valve along with gasket sealed lids is included with convenient lid hangers to store your lids when your equipment is in operation. Besides, the included coupling straps secure the racks together when stacked. The interior rack is also completely removable, allowing complete frame access for bench integration.

Q: 1. Where can I find front and rear recessed steel twist latches mechanism? we bought two of these 12U cases in April 2021. Each cover latches are not holding to main case keeper anymore. They just come loose when in transport or move between building. So frustrating. Thanks

A: I would recommend contacting customer support at SKB and making them aware of the issue with the latches not holding the covers securely. The case is still under warranty. SKB does have replacement parts and may be able to offer an option for a different type latch, possibly with a lock to prevent the covers from becoming loose during transport. As an additional option for extra security, you may want to use a strap or bungee cord wrapped around the exterior and running through the side handles. Q: 2. On the SKB 1SKB-R8UW , what is the internal depth between front and back rails?

A: The depth of the rack case, measured rail to rail is 17.8 inches.

Q: 3. Does the rear of the case have rails, as well, or is it only the front?

A: The SKB Soft Case only has front rails.

Q: 4. Can you remove the wheels from the rack and put them back again? The reason I am asking is because I will have the put the rack on a table and it wouldn't look good with the wheels below it. It would be great to be able to remove them while we use it and to put them back on when we are done using it.

A: Yes, this does have removeable casters.

A: 10-32 We are making use of Extra-Wide Truss Head Phillips screws ( Passivated 18-8 Stainless Steel, 10-32 Thread, 3/4 Long).

Q: 6. Can you use this case to ship a monitor via UPS?

A: I've known people to successfully ship items UPS using plastic tubs they've sealed with tape. This is definitely a step up from that. You'd probably want to tape down the latches. The monitor should be well protected for shipping. Bigger issue is the weight. The case itself has some weight to it. Unless you need the case for transport after arrival it would not be the most economical way to ship a monitor.

Q: 7. Will the Apple Pro XDR display fit in this case?

A: This cases was not specifically designed for the Apple Pro Display. But it would still fit inside the case

Q: 8. Does the measurement go from front mount to rear? Is there a little bit of room for my 4U rack to mount in front and stick out an inch or two in the back? Thanks

A: The total depth available on the SKB 4U Roto Rack Case rack (without front and back covers) is 17.6 . Whether or not your equipment would fit will depend on whether or not the piece of gear in question exceeds this dimension.

Q: 9. Will this fit on top of SKB Roto Molded Rack Expansion Case with Wheels (B&H #SKR1906 MFR #1SKB-R1906)?

A: The SKB Roto 1SKB-R1906 was designed to add expandability to the 1SKB-R102, 1SKB-R104, 1SKB-R106 and 1SKB19-R1208 as well as the 1SKB19-R1006(V) and the 1SKB19-R1010(V) only. It is not compatible with the SKB 8U Roto Rack Rack Case. By the way, there is an wheeled version of the this case; B&H# SKR8W.
