I have sometimes got it to work on bright days. Since this lens is already F5.6 and adding the teleconverter makes it F8 it won't autofocus. It will work as a manual focus lens. I tried it with my a77 and the 70-400 plus 1.4. Picture can out fine. No mechanical issue.
